Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

The Olsen twins are growing up, as they always have, right before our eyes. In the first half of this hourlong video, they're headed to a high school dance (christened Spring Dance.com--ugh!), which gives Ashley cause to fret about whether both she and boyfriend Rick will be chosen as King and Queen, and prompts Mary-Kate to ask out that cute boy, Jesse. It also gives the fashionably attired duo plenty of chances to sing their pop-lite ditties and white-girl rap in high school corridors and bathrooms. The second half harks back to their cute-as-a-button days in a series of music videos that begin with their first, "Brother for Sale," in which the Full House TV pixies try to unload their older sibling. The other nine songs include tuneful meditations on slumber parties, pizza, and summer outings to beaches, hotels, and naval shipyards. Despite their new maturity in the high school portion of the video, most Mary- Kate and Ashley fans will be females between 8 and 12. --Kimberly Heinrichs

5.0 out of 5 stars Lindsay's View of the School Dance Party, July 12, 2000
This review is from: You're Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley's School Dance Party [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am a big-time oLSEN FAN! So, obviuously i like the video, i think it is their best You're Invited Video. But it is kinda sad that it is the last one in the series. But it is also kinda good, cause they said that now they are gonna focus more on bigger projects like Feature length movies. I really liked the video. But, it is much different from the other party videos. Alot more grown up i think. And, the songs are MUCH better than ones in the past. And everyone has to admit, MK+A are awesome actresses, but they are not awesome singers. But, they do pretty well. Don't ya think. Well, i luved the video! -Lindsay

5.0 out of 5 stars Mhmhmhmhmhmhmh... Mary Kate & Ashley!, December 19, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: You're Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley's School Dance Party [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The multi-talented MK & A are at it again in this joyful, frolicking, wholesome video. I am so glad that entertainment like this is being made in an age where kids are imitating scenes from such violent films as the "Matrix" and "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" I just can't get enough of this video. I was so happy when my mom bought it for me. I watch it over and over again. People at work keep trying to borrow it from me, but I won't let it out of my VCR. My wife hates me for it, but I'll fix that soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally For Teenagers!, October 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: You're Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley's School Dance Party [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is Mary-Kate and Ashley's latest your invited video, its great for teenagers! It is a lot different from there usuall half hour long video series, cuz it's a lot more mature. The music they sing here is VERY good! It's really not at all that corney! one of the songs they sing "Saterday night" sounds like something they would sing on Grease, I dunno, maybee thats just me...anyway the best song they sing on here is "Monday Morning" Its so awsome! anyway, nuf bout the awsome music, now about the video. It's about spring dance at their school. Ashley has a date with this popular boy and wants to win cyber girl (Kinda like homecoming queen) along with her date as cyber boy (like homecoming king) and ashley wants to go with the guy she has a crush on. It's defenatly geared more towards teens witch is a great improvement for them! Oh yeah, at the end they show a bunch of their old videos like "Brother For Sale" "Bravery" "Ide Rather Be Surfing" "Glorious Sand" "Gimme Pizza" "Pullin an all nighter" and MORE! It's their best video yet!
