5.0 out of 5 stars Vampire Villas
Customer Video Review     Length:: 1:20 Mins
This is a video that my family and I created using You're In The Movies. From within the game, you are able to send a download link to your registered Live account email. The link is to a page where you can download a WMV-format version of the video that you created in the game. This is one of those videos.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better own a green screen or have flood lights.
The game is a lot of fun, but has it's minor annoyances. Such as, you have to reset the background every so often because it won't recognize you, and you feel mildly pathetic playing it by yourself. Call your friends over.

The best parts about this game are this: It costs $20. The camera alone casts $30-$40. You're saving $10 and getting a game with it...

4.0 out of 5 stars great family entertainment!, January 1, 2009

I read a LOT of reviews on this product before buying it for my kids this Christmas- nearly all of them were written by serious "gamers" and 20-somethings who viewed this as a potential drinking/party game......none of those people liked this game AT ALL. they became bored with it quickly, the camera wasn't sophisticated enough, on and on. However, when I came to the 1st review on amazon by a family ( who posted an actual video of their game play, thank you very much!!!) I knew right away this was a game my kids would love. ( I think it is pretty fun myself!) The camera does act up once in awhile, but the kids really don't get that upset about it- usually if you mess with the lighting a bit or change the angle you can get it back on track. Every kid in my neighborhood has been over to play it ( even the new WII owners ditched their game time to come play at our house!) We have kids ranging from age 6 to 14 playing this game and they all think it's a blast! So. my review is , great for families-

If you have your friends over or family, it is a boat load of fun, especially when you decide to stop listening to the director and do whatever you want.
You can e-mail the videos to yourself if you have an internet connection.

I'd recommend it for nothing more than $25. It's fun, has some party value to it.

I bought this game for my son who is 9. I was a little skeptical based on the reviews that say your background is in the game as well. There is a point when you set it up that it takes a picture of the background so it know what to cut out. Is it perfect? No. However it is a lot of fun. We had Nephews, Nieces, Uncles all lining up to be in the movies. There is a fair amount of movies to choose from off the bat and more to be unlocked.

Overall the camera alone sells for $30 so to get it for $10 cheaper with the game was definitely worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hamming it up, May 26, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: You're in the Movies (Video Game)
My husband and 16 yr old granddaughter thought the game looked stupid when i brought it home. My ten yr granddaughter and hubby made the first movie clip and found it hilarious. We did another and soon the 16yr old was joining in the fun. We have only had it for a weekend and have done probably ten clips. Even got the dogs in it. Had friends come over and had them doing it. Everyone was laughing. Great ice breaker for those quiet kids. Looking forward to directing our own.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 STARS ****Don't believe the poor reviews.., May 11, 2009
This review is from: You're in the Movies (Video Game)
This game is completely fun. Having your family or friends over playing this is a blast. Very funny, and very awesome seeing yourself "star" in these films.
Director mode is awesome as well. You can basically create and do the voice-over work for a movie trailor.

At the used price, this game is a steal.

5.0 out of 5 stars My teenager's can't get enough of this game!, December 26, 2009

Got this for my teenagers for Christmas. What a hit! Wasn't even on their Christmas list. Sure it's a little cheezy but what's wrong with that. Especially with all the mindless and violent games out there. They've had multiple friends over and all have loved it. The bigger the t.v. screen the better and use a tripod for the camera if you have one. It is a bargin in my opinion!

It takes a lot of work, but the editing job YITM does is amazing. Getting a few friends together has produced fun time after fun time. I thought I would need alcohol in order to fully enjoy it, but the fist time I played it I had a blast, and this was by myself.

Unfortunately the servers closed down so you can't upload your movies to your computer anymore. It's really sad because that was the best way to share it with others. There is no other option besides recording your TV.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great camera; fun while maddening game, October 21, 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars

As mentioned, the camera is a very good 640x480 camera. Some large background white areas may bloom but the picture is otherwise very well balanced. Unlike the EyeToy, the camera does not contain a microphone. The Live Vision Camera package that people are saying is more expensive contains a headset (originally, perhaps still, an XBOX headset with an adaptor). Xbox 360 Live Vision Camera *** So this is not necessarily a bargain way of getting the camera. ***

The "green screen" effect is done by shooting a picture of the actor-less background. The actor must not look like the background. This is normally a very effective method (see YouTube). ... as long as you don't use daylight; any shift in the sun or the sky will make the background appear changed, but without the expected result (is the software is thinking too hard?). So it works best at night with fixed lighting on the background (with separate light on the actor). (NOTE: movies need a real green screen because the cameras move and the monochrome green key isn't affected by light reflections. Shadows must be avoided in this game.) I repeat, optimal usage is only possible in a room completely cut off from *any* sun light (Even light from a blue sky changes.). Make a movie to feel the pleasure before you bother trying to fix things. (Be prepared to wait 5-10 minutes for it to store a modest movie (optional); the new video encoding saves significant disk space).

This game has great potential and as the only one available for XBox 360, it is the most fun. It's pitiful designed compared to the lamest PS2 EyeToy game I've every played. Nevertheless, I feel a fairly big gleeful rush seeing myself in the movie and feel I come across better than in real video.

Because of the project that it is to set up the background, it's best as a group effort. I believe a youngster will have more energy to set things up by themselves (most adults won't have a room where they'd leave the necessary lighting set up all the time.

3 stars for the unique, if crazy-making, game (The disc spins loudly non-stop in my new cool and quiet Elite; This game feels like it was abandoned after the first draft.).

5 stars for the microphone-less camera (which is very small, and much easier to focus than my 2 different EyeToys. The EyeToy microphone is essential to me during normal webcam chat. Gamers always wear a headset while chatting to distinguish themselves from game sounds, perhaps not an issue with UNO).
