Editorial Reviews

Review

"Morley is the antithesis of street artists in Los Angeles. Where traditional taggers obscure their name in scrawled script only readable to their own, Morley prints big messages with his large bold lettering. Where most find it cool to be cryptic, Morley shares his wit in complete sentences. Where many street artists prefer anonymity or an empowered alter-ego, Morley includes a plain drawing of his unglamorous self writing each ironic aphorism. His humor veers from self-deprecating to sly, his insight ranges from soul searching to silly."

- The Huffington Post

"Breaking the mold is exactly what street art needs today, and Morley seems to be that bit of unpretentious breath of fresh air."

- Vandalog

"Morley's piece are much more than slogans. He has something to make you think about, and he does this in a very effective and funny way"

- Claude Crommelin (from New Street Art)

"Morley has a unique gift for what he does. When it comes to artists on the streets, nearly everyone uses words, but no one uses them so well. Morley's street poetry is poignant enough to cause a person to think, and packaged short enough to be consumed in a moment. Morley is a poet of the Streets. Those are our words, not his. Morley would probably find a better way to phrase it."

- MelroseAndFairax

"Poetic and insightful, Morley’s art captures truths, hardships, and the quirkiness of the human condition."

- G. James Daichendt, Author of Stay Up! Los Angeles Street Art

About the Author

Morley is a Los Angeles-based street artist that specializes in bold, typographic posters which he wheat pastes within the urban landscape. He can hold his breath for over an hour.

IF YOU'RE READING THIS, THERE'S STILL TIME is like getting a glimpse into the brain of Morley. And what a wonderful brain it is.

As an artist Morley is thought-provoking, and as a writer he is even more poetic and poignant. The stories that accompany the artwork that we see on the streets every day give new meaning to his work, and are at turns hilarious, heartbreaking, and inspiring (not to mention relatable).

If you've ever seen one of Morley's posters while driving and wondered who is behind them and what drives him to spread his messages across the city, IF YOU'RE READING THIS, THERE'S STILL TIME will no doubt leave you with an even greater appreciation for this vigilante of hope.

Ok, so I might be a little biased because I am such a huge fan of Morley. If you have not seen his art yet, I recommend you stop reading this and find his Instagram account (Official_Morley). Now that you have, buy his book. Morley is a wheat-paste artist in Los Angeles and is consistently spreading messages that speak to our humanity as people. He is always filling us with hope, and letting us know that we are not alone in this world. Buy this book, I guarantee you wont be disappointed.

This book is fantastic. It's full of pictures of pieces by Morley and text passages about his artwork, motivations, and life. I found Morley's work while Googling some combination of "Los Angeles" and "street art" late last year and I've been following him (at least on facebook) since. His work is kind of about LA, but it's mostly about life and feelings and love and things not always going as planned. And when life doesn't go as planned, Morley's posters encourage you to keep going anyway.

You should buy this book. Because I bought this book as soon as I saw it announced, and I only buy books that I'll read/look at more than once. I wanted this one. I expect I'll page through it from time to time, save perhaps those rare occasions of extreme and unparalleled joy, and in paging though this book be reminded that someone else feels the way I do. And if I'm really being honest, I bought the book because I think it might be a step on Morley's journey to becoming hugely successful such that I will never, ever be able to afford one of his pieces. Good for him. And good thing I bought a bunch of his stickers.

With a foreword by Frank Warren (creator of PostSecret), this book opens with a bang and keeps you turning the pages until the very end. Each page is filled with gorgeous photos of Morley's art- from the streets of Los Angeles to the subways of London, his thought provoking wheat paste posters boldly declare statements such as "Let's love as if both our parents aren't divorced" and "This life is a limited time offer."

"If You're Reading This, There's Still TIme" takes us inside of Morley's brain, walking us through a series of a Q&A with him, helping the reader access his creative process, something not typically accessed in street art, especially in the secretive world of Banksy and other popular street artists.

This book makes a great gift for an art lover, a thinker, a new graduate, somebody who might be facing a hard time in life who needs encouragement, or a good present for yourself. I've got it on my coffee table, and literally every person who has come over in the last three weeks since I bought it has picked it up, looked through it for ten minutes and said "Holy crap this is so cool."

I can promise you that you won't regret buying this book.

Whenever I spot a new Morley piece here in Los Angeles, it absolutely makes my day. I instantly snap a picture and share it with all of my friends and family. Morley's writing is so on point and inspiring that anyone at any random time will feel like those encouraging words were meant specifically for them. If I'm going through a rough patch (since the 20s can totally suck), I flip through the pages of this book just to help my sanity! :) It's like he can relate to your hardships, love life, humor, and dreams. I highly recommend buying this book - it's perfect for your coffee table and is a reminder that whatever emotions (whether happy or sad) you are experiencing right now - you're not alone. His words give you the strength and hope that you just might need. This book also makes one incredible gift...you won't regret this purchase!

I pre-ordered this and eagerly waited for it to arrive....and it didn't disappoint! I live in Los Angeles and love seeing Morley's work around town, but I knew I hadn't seen it all. The book is a fabulous collection, as well as an explanation of what went on behind the scenes and a lot of pictures that you wouldn't see any other way. The other great part about this book was being able to share it with friends and coworkers, who often hadn't realized that they had seen his work around town, and encouraging them to keep an eye out for it in the future. I bought another copy and gave it as a gift.
It's really just a clever and thoughtful book to enjoy.
