Book Description

You’re Worth It! - A Scripture Devotional Helping Teens to Love God with their whole heart, mind, soul and strength.

From the author who has inspired thousands of young people in their faith journey for nearly four decades, comes the Scripture Devotional for Youth, You’re Worth It! – a compelling daily blueprint for teens and young adults, providing inspiration and guidance for building the most important relationship one can have, a deep and personal relationship with God!

“All that life is, is a series of relationships, in which we learn to love God and others. Everything else either contributes to that or distracts us from it.” Rinker’s philosophy of ministry follows that all ministry is relational. “Whether or not we have effective ministry depends on the quality of our relationships.”

In Rinker’s first Scripture Devotional for teens and young adults, Pat leads you step-by-step to a growing awareness of God’s presence, as you build a deep and personal relationship with Him. Presented in Pat’s compassionate and approachable style, this devotional for youth is the first of its kind to directly confront the true challenges facing Christian teens in this second decade of the 21st century.

Youth Ministry Leaders will also find this 270-page book a wonderful resources for their Youth Programs, providing an inspiring and engaging resource for ongoing youth devotional programs.

Editorial Reviews

Review

You're Worth It!" feels like a loving friend that sits next to you when you pray and helps you have a deeper experience of God's Word in Scripture. It shows us that the message of the Bible is as relevant today as it was two thousand years ago. ---Bob Rice is a professor at Steubenville University and a nationally known keynote speaker, songwriter and performer.

You're Worth It!" brings young people into the very heart of their faith. Pat's love for God and his love for young people allow him to help teens discover God's great presence in their lives in such a powerful way. Scripture can sometimes seem so unapproachable to young people. In this book, Pat has not only made it approachable, he has brought the love and faithfulness God has for us and made it real and tangible and even life changing. ---Steve Angrisano is a veteran musician, composer and youth ministerartist at spiritandsong.com, a division of OCP.

Pat Rinker gets to the heart of a young person's struggles and concerns with this amazing teen devotional. Pat's years of relational ministry and the understanding of the challenges a young person faces are evident throughout the book. I would highly recommend this book to any teen who has ever questioned, struggled or wanted to grow deeper in relationship with Christ. ---Bob Perron is a Stooge 4 Christ and a Catholic Edu-tainer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully set-up January 8, 2013
By Kapzu
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wasn't sure what to expect but watching how the youth respond to Pat, I figured it must be good. I am thrilled about the "design" of this book and how easy it is to follow. The best part is, regardless of which branch of Christianity you follow, this touches so many different things that teens deal with, regardless of our age! Pat's book makes it very easy for youth to find corresponding scripture for everyday issues and for those once in a while issues.
Great job Pat!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Catholic Devotional December 19, 2012

Pat Rinker has given youth (and frankly, all of us) a gift in his book, "You're Worth It." Pat marries his deep spiritual experiences, his affinity for Scripture and with his unique understanding of the life of today's youth to bring us this treasure. He helps the reader to find how Scripture really works in their lives. This book invites us to read the Word of God, reflect on it and live it! Parents, this is a great gift for your youth and young adults. I'm buying it for my entire Confirmation class!

5.0 out of 5 stars Speaks Christ's love to the heart of teens. August 12, 2014
Format:Perfect Paperback
My daughters received this as a gift. They both love it! (and I will add that I NEVER have made them read this...they are loving it on their own with no coaxing). My 15 year old has been sharing some of the passages with a friend who has been struggling with some self esteem issues lately and wanting to grow closer to Christ, and she asked where she could get this awesome book that has been helping her so much (I just ordered her one here). Fantastically written, and speaks clearly, with the love of Christ, to the heart of teens...speaks, not preaches.
After reading a couple negative reviews, I want to share that while I'm Catholic, my daughter's friend is not...she loves the book (and yes, I asked her mother's permission...she was all for it).
Lastly, I feel compelled to share Pat Rinker's response (the author) to the negative comments that I found under a small comments tab, as I found it lovely and appropriate. (I hope he doesn't mind....if he does I will remove it).

"Pat Rinker: "I am grateful for the reviews (on Amazon.com) written by those who have purchased the book but also concerned by two reviews. Two people wrote poor reviews simply because I am Catholic. It's not that it saddens me now but division in the Body of Christ, the Church, has always concerned.

It calls me back to a poem I wrote when I was about 20 years old, forty years ago. I found the poem recently and am posting it on this site for all to read who visit here. My Body Torn, My Body Mended is my gift to you with a request that you join Jesus in his prayer from John 17, that we be one, as He and His Father are one, that we would be one in them. Peace.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I wanted February 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got this book because I'm a teen leader at my church for our summer camp and I wanted to become more equipped in helping them. However, this is a Catholic book and I am Baptist so this book did not meet my criteria and I will be deleting it from my Kindle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you!! (And I am not Catholic!!) :o) August 9, 2014

I have a son who has autism and also is bipolar. I will say that at times he suffers terribly and, if ever there was a message he needed to hear, it is "You're worth it!" We just finished reading through the Bible and decided we would do a devotional for his daily devos and this one caught my eye. When I read out loud: "Chapter I - Am I Worth It? Basis of your concept of self-worth and foundation of your relationship with God," he said, "I could use this." It touched my heart!! We have only done the first devo, but if the rest are like this, I can tell that this devo is going to be life-impacting.

As for it being a Catholic book, I am not Catholic, but I am a member of the Body of Christ and it makes me sad that someone would slam a book just because it was written by someone of a different denomination. I, personally, appreciate the opportunities that come up to discuss with my children what we believe versus what others believe and why we have chosen to believe as we do, all the while teaching them to love and respect others. If I were to continue to read the book and find the message to say something extreme like 'Catholic people are the only ones going to heaven,' well, then I may choose not to continue to read the book. However, if the devotions are as excellent as the very first one I read, I HIGHLY doubt that it!!

Thank you so much for writing this devo. I am sure my son is not the only hurting one who needs to hear this message!!

I will update my review as we get into more of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great way to get young people to pray! January 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have been volunteering and working in Catholic youth ministry for 20 years and one of the questions I am asked most often is "How can I get closer to God?". Pat Rinker's book is a great tool to help build that relationship. This is a great book for young (and not so young) people. The short Scripture and reflections are easy to use and understand on a daily basis, and demonstrate the author's understanding of young people today. Several of the teens I work with have downloaded it and use this book everyday.
