Biography

With their heavily orchestrated, sweet ballads, the Australian soft rock group Air Supply became a staple of early-'80s radio, scoring a string of seven straight Top Five singles. Air Supply, for most intents and purposes, was the duo of vocalists Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell; other members came through the group over the years, yet they only functioned as backing musicians and ... 5.0 out of 5 stars Air Supply's back on "The Scene" April 27, 2001
Format:Audio CD
The Power of Love is back and stronger then ever in the music of the 80s supergroup Air Supply. "You Are The Reason" and "There's Only One Forever" speaks to the hearts of all as we all reach for the one true bond of the world....love. But with "Yours Truly" this five man band not only reclaims the power ballad but also proves that they know how to ROCK! Slip into the rhythm with "Body Glove" and then serve up some hot "Peaches and Cream" and you'll see what makes this album "Hard to Forget." Make no mistake that Graham Russell, Russell Hitchcock, Jed Moss, Larry Antonino, and Mark T. Williams know all about the softer side of love, but this album will put to rest the rumours that these guys and their music is too soft for the modern day rockers. "Why Don't You Come Over" and we'll show you!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Air Supply at their finest !! September 29, 2001
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Once again, this band that has been turning out great material for over 26 years, proves they still have what it takes. This is one of Air Supply's finest efforts yet ! If this album gets airplay here in the states--there are definite BIG hits on this one. The powerful ballad You are the Reason, featuring beautiful guest vocals by Indian female performer Mehnaz, is fantastic ! Another song that sounds like a huge hit is the incredible Don't Throw Our Love Away with it's soaring string arrangement !
Plus there are such emotional, stirring songs like the title track and the mournful Hard to Forget Her. I love the more rock oriented songs as well. Certainly these types of songs have always been a part of what Air Supply is and they showcase that talent well here. People who complain about lyrics like "potato chips, female hips" are pretty ridiculous to me. There are so many songs out there with nonsensical lyrics. Look at Duran Duran for instance. What the heck's a "lizard mixture" ? The bottom line is, a song like Body Glove is fun, and has a cool beat. Great job, Air Supply---keep 'em coming !

5.0 out of 5 stars Yours Truly May 8, 2001
Format:Audio CD
HOW DO THEY DO IT? This CD is unbelievable. I do not understand why radio will not play Air Supply. This LP is one of their best. "Body Glove" and "Peaches and Cream" are very cool, Naughty is a good word to describe these songs. "You are the Reason" and "Only one forever" are my favorites followed up by "Why dont you come over" and "Hard to forget her" hits home with me. Air Supply has taken their music to a new level, it is very emotional and intense. Graham Russell who penned all of the songs(Except for one) is the greatest songwriter in the modern era. The man needs some awards and "Grahammys" to show that his writing is very good if not excellent. Russell Hitchcock again proves why he is the sound and the voice of Air Supply as he delivers the most sultry, beautiful harmonies w/Graham you could possibly imagine. This CD is a must buy for all, this LP rocks and has a great sound. The background vocals are very, very good also, the added voices really adds to the sound in a way that is crafty.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Yours Truly" brings back Air Supply's basics June 19, 2001
Format:Audio CD
The 5-man team of Russell Hitchcock, Graham Russell, Jed Moss, Larry Antonino and Mark Williams are the Y2K incarnation of one of the most enduring -- if underplayed -- soft rock bands ever, Air Supply.
Since 1985, the newer recordings of this group have been seemingly avoided by radio for unexplained reasons. However, this new 13-track package has material that should NOT be ignored.
Penned (except for one) by Graham Russell, the songs mix the velvet-soft trademark sound of the group with an occasional rocker. A strong orchestral arrangement is featured on the opening track, "Who Am I." The band turns up the tempo with the rhythmical second track, "Body Glove."
The tempo calms down once again for "Don't Throw Our Love Away", "Why Don't You Come Over", "Tell Me Of Spring" and "Yours Truly."
"You Are The Reason" is a lyrically beautiful number featuring Hindu artist Mehnaz (who will perform with Air Supply during their concert appearances in India this year).
"There's Only One Forever", "If You Love Me" and "Hard To Forget Her" showcase the soft side of Air Supply that fans from the beginning have grown up with.
A catchy "retrospective" piece is the upbeat "Learning to Make Love To You." And added into this package is a remix of a previously released number, "The Scene."
Radio stations should take note of this new collection, and pay particular attention (in my humble opinion as a radio DJ) to "Who Am I", "Don't Throw Our Love Away", "Yours Truly" and "Learning To Make Love To You."
Complimenting this new songset is some visually appealing cover art arranged by (I think) Jodi Russell.
Devoted Air Supply fans around the world will long hold this new CD close to their hearts.

However, on their newest package, domestic (U.S.) distribution appears to have been delayed or scratched (hopefully not completely). And U.S. radio stations have been totally void of newer songs by the band.
