5.0 out of 5 stars Even More Stars Than Mentioned Before !, October 18, 2006

I totally concur with the previous reviewer. However, it must be mentioned that the best songs on this CD are by diegard vegetarians and animal welfare activists, namely, Chrissie Hynde and Howard Jones. The B'52's and KD Lang also make solid musical contributions. PETA makes some mistakes but their work on behalf of animals is tireless and invaluable. Jeff Beck's stunning guitar song "Skin Thieves" was wrongfully not included on this CD. I don't know why. It is sheer guitar virtuosity and Jeff Beck is a big time animal welfare advocate and vegetarian.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Music and a Noble Cause Too!, November 29, 2005
This review is from: Tame Yourself (Benefit People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) (Audio CD)
Tame Yourself was an album of donated songs produced to benefit People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The artists on this album are all big supporters of animal rights and are an amalgamation of very talented performers. Whether or not you support PETA, this album is definitely worth your time. On a personal note, while I don't support all of PETA's efforts I think that this album really does do an awesome job of putting information out there for those who don't know what animal rights is all about.

On this album you're going to find songs that you'll not find anywhere else (I'm noting but a few):

Don't Kill the Animals - Nina Hagen and Lene Lovich - these two women deliver a song that is infectiously danceable, yet puts forth a very strong message.

Across the Way - Aleka's Attic - If you're a River Phoenix fan, this album is a must for you. Only a handful of his rock group's songs were ever produced and printed - this is one of them. It is a very lyrical and ethereal piece that makes one wonder what his group could have been had he not died.

Fur - Jane Wiedlin (formerly of the Go Go's) - this is a very peppy and danceable song, but it gets across a strong anti-fur message (I'm a big anti-fur advocate: it's no longer necessary!).

Rage - Lene Lovich and Erasure - Take a 90's dance hit maker and mix in an 80's Euro dance rocker and you've got a really cool song.

Those are but a few of my favorites, but there really isn't a single song on this album that I don't like.

Look, you may not agree with the politics of the album, but you would probably like the music. If you don't know anything about the animal rights movement - this is a pretty darned good place to start and get some enjoyment out of learning about it.

Please, check this album out!
