Thank you, Twisted Sister, thank you, Las Vegas Hilton, and thank you, Amazon, for delivering this tasty steaming slab of hard rock -- no, it's not metal -- to us for free. I've taken the liberty of correcting the song name to "Have Yourself A Merry LITTLE Christmas / Powerhouse" and adding three songwriters' names: Hugh Martin/Ralph Blane for "HYAMLC" and Raymond Scott for "Powerhouse," which takes up the first two minutes of the track. If you've ever seen a Warner Bros. cartoon, you've heard "Powerhouse" -- just imagine any scene with an assembly line.

The introduction is very clever. It begins with a very brief presentation of a traditional 1950's style of the carol, that is quickly derailed (with a great sound effect), and picked up by a more modern and upbeat sound. The instrumental part of the introduction is a bit long for the audio listener, but the audience is cheering, so it makes me wonder what the band was doing on stage that was so entertaining. It was Vegas, so I'm sure it was interesting! ;)

And then, with a seriously awesome drumroll introduction, the lyrics began. While they got off to a bit of a rocky start, they quickly corrected course and began to soar. The repeated refrain of, "Ho, ho, ho, let's go!" began the full-on metal version of the song. The electric guitar parts are excellent. I probably would not have listened to this song had I not picked it up on a free promotion, but it's good.

Didn't like it all but it was a freebie from Amazon a Christmas time so I downloaded in my Amazon Cloud player just for the heck of it. Just wasn't my style of music.

Just not my cup of tea. It may be generational or just a preference for traditional renditions of holiday music. It was not memorable.

Need I say more? Dee Snider is a funny and nice guy. And this is a cool Christmas CD to add to your already too large collection of the traditional stuff!

Beatles were my style and I'm old enough to have purchased "I want To Hold Your Hand" when it was first released in 1964. As an old radio and party DJ, I've played some Twisted Sister over the years. When I saw Amazon was offering a free download of this cut, I figured, What they hey." I haven't listed to it yet...thus the middle ground rating.
