5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for the basic concepts of Exchange 5.5
I have read several "For Dummies" books and several "in 10 minutes" books. This book is one of the best by far. This book starts from the beginning of installation and carries you into troubleshooting without getting stuck on all the details that are not needed for a basic understanding of Exchange. It can be read in a weekend and is full of...

3.0 out of 5 stars You'll need another book
This book is pretty decent if you need to get Exchange up and running in a hurry. However, if you plan to support the thing once it's installed, you WILL end up buying another book. There's only so much information you can fit in to a 250 page book, so it really just skims the top of the subjects it covers. I'd recommend buying a more complete book, and just reading...

This review is from: Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 in 10 Minutes (Paperback)
I have read several "For Dummies" books and several "in 10 minutes" books. This book is one of the best by far. This book starts from the beginning of installation and carries you into troubleshooting without getting stuck on all the details that are not needed for a basic understanding of Exchange. It can be read in a weekend and is full of fundamental information that is very helpful in understanding Exchange if you have limited experience with the product. This book is definitely not for the individuals looking for a book to use as a study guide for a certification exam but it is an excellent foundation or intro to Exchange 5.5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great beginnings, July 31, 2001

Knowing almost nothing about what Exchange is, or how it relates to Outlook, this was the perfect book for me. I am setting up a small business network for mail, calendars, etc. It is difficult when you are starting out, to get to the fundamentals. Most books and Microsoft links assume you are past that point. But if you miss the fundamentals, bad news.

I am now planning to buy an additional book to go more in-depth, but don't regret starting with this book. Well worth the small investment

As a network administrator that needed to get an Exchange Server up and running quickly, I found 'Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5' invaluable. It was easy to read and concise. I highly recommend this book.
