As still somewhat of a novice, I found the cartoons took up way too much space and are extremely distracting.Also the color arrows are sometimes too close to similar colors. The actual material you are trying to locate and understand needs to be much larger and readable. While I understand you can match the page with your computer screen, I found it aggravating to have to do so in order to read what is in each window. My reason for buying it was so I didn't have to spend so much time finding what was referenced.

I have heard these same complaint from many students new to computers (we are in our 30's and 40's)
I have recommended it somewhat, with explanations of above flaws.

I could be greatly simplified with less cartoons, larger window images.Also practice sheets to apply to what you are learning.
I guess it all depends on who your target demographic is. Experienced users looking for updates on 2007 wouldn't care, they already know where everything is.....

I was disappointed.

I found this book very helpful and great for high schoolers to learn Access on their own. Especially since many like to see things and "Learn Visually" as the name of the book.

I own several Teach Yourself Visually books (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and this Access version is just as helpful. This book gives you enough information so you can navigate around and generally get the answer you are looking for without a lot of hunting. The visuals are well drawn and extremely helpful -- they remind me of cartoons that keep you interested but not distracted. Best of all, you don't have to have a book on your shelf with 'IDIOTS' in the title.
