This book is the most efficent and effective youth manual ever! It's a devotional book, book for instruction, study guide, and resource book all in one. I have used this book many times in putting sermons altogether over the years. If you are looking for the most practical book to aid in your Christian walk, other than the Bible itself, this is it. A must for adults as well as youth. Pure genius and truly inspired.

I first came across Youth Aflame back in the 1980's while looking for a solid book for my teenage daughter. I purchased a single copy and as I read this book I realized the title could well have been "You The Flame" because of it's obvious applications for adults as well as youth. Since then I have gone through some 200 plus copies, many given as gifts others used in bible study groups and discipleship training. It is my opinion that Youth Aflame is one of the best books to use in helping you understand scripture and the nature and character of God. I am thankful to God and to Winkie Pratney for such a valuable resource. ...END

If you want a study of a real, non-compromising, Spirit-empowered, sin-conquering, generation changing book, then here it is. Discusses from Salvation to passion for God to Bible study to witnessing, and more. As a youth pastor I would say this is essential for any youth/college ministry and for any person who desires to seek the Lord and know Him.

Pratney offers straight Bible for just about all of the aspects of life in Youth Aflame. This book has built me on a strong foundation because it is solely based on the Word and not on Pratney's own "ideas"! Awesome! I've read it going on three times now.

I've perused the pages of Youth Aflame many times since a copy was given me by a friend in '81. I don't believe I've ever seen a more intense book pertaining to discipleship. I do think a reading of it requires caution, though. Without adequate support from church life it can tempt one towards despair.

Youth With A Mission (YWAM), the largest mission organization in the world numbering nearly 20,000 full-time volunteers in nearly every nation planting about one church everyday somewhere in the world was largly founded on the teachings in this book in 1969-1973+ Winkie Pratney set the record straight concerning the Doctrine of Sin, Salvation, Holiness and Repentance. As a 22+ year veteran YWAMer myself (1988 to present), I have personally seen that the new or old YWAMers that "get away" or "fall away" from the teachings in this book and also Winkie's "Doorways to Discipleship" because stagnant, weak, inneffective and soft on sin. The day this book goes completely out of print will be sad day. I'm tempted to buy a "whole ship load" for saving and distribution much like one would collect silver or gold.

I want to give my view with respect to the author because he's older than I am and I definitely don't want to assume I am wiser or more mature in any way. However, I'm reading this book to create a youth smallgroup curriculum and I'd never, ever, EVER give this book to one of my students as a manual for discipleship. His theology is off on almost EVERY page. His views on the Fall, man's sin and our relationships are so far from biblical doctrine that I had to put the book down in disgust on some occasions. Don't read it. If you do, make sure you are reading your Bible too. If you like this book, are you even reading your Bible?
