The name says it all. Seriously though, if you want a drill to run, be it for a catcher, infielder, outfielder, pitcher, batter, base runner, you name it, the drill is in here. Not just one drill either, but many for each position. Situational drills such as how to call time out after sliding into a base are also included. Detailed descriptions on what equipment is needed for each drill, the number of players for the drill, number of coaches and/or parents for the drill, the skills learned for that drill, and related drills. This is one of the best coaches aids I have ever seen. Having fun while practicing is a must, for the players and the coaches. Learning to play baseball while having fun helps the players to remember what to do during the game.

Great book for new coaches expecially for the younger player. I am in my second year of coaching 6 & 7 year old girls and I wish that I had the book last year. Mr Schupak knowledge and approach to teaching a well run practice is excelent. I would also recommend his "59 minute practice" dvd/video. With these two items and a bucket of ball you will be set for a fun season for all.

I've read numerous positive reviews of the YOUTH BASEBALL DRILLS book.
I purchased it and was not disappointed. The book is about 190 pages and includes 80 + drills.
More of a resource book of practice drills than anything else,
you can get much more out of this reading a little bit between the lines.
The book states:

"the main goal of each practice is to actively involve
as many players as possible in every drill."

The author backs this up with a wide variety combining fun with skills.

On batting practice:

"a great way to run batting practice with 10,11. or 12 players is to have two on-deck batters.
One of the on-deck batters can hit off the batting tee on the other side of the fence or in a safe area.
Or an assistant coach can practice the toss drill."

Get the picture? Limited down time for each player on your team.
What, you don't have a field to practice on?
No sweat, the author covers a few Parking Lot Practices.

Author Marty Schupak has taken his 20+ years experience
coaching Little League and has given the reader some excellent
content to work with. We followed this book almost to the letter
and our team won and had fun.

SIMPLY STATED, ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS ON YOUTH BASEBALL!

There are 80 reasons to purchase Marty Schupak's YOUTH BASEBALL DRILLS book
if you are a youth baseball coach. The 80 drills are presented in such simple terms,
that I even understood them. And the drills will keep your team interested in baseball.
Let's be very candid about this. If you are looking to get to the Little League World Series,
there may be a better technical resource. But if you want to give your players a chance to
grasp the great game of baseball from the front edge of home plate to the furtherest point in the outfield,
do not hesitate a second. Do whatever you can to get this book ASAP. Your choices may be your local library, Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
Read it! Make notes and make your list of drills that you want your team to experience.
Five must-do drills for your team:
1) Third Base Drill-Excellent warm-up.
2) Reaction Drill-Combines reaction with eye hand coordination.
3) Rapid Fire Drill-Increases reaction time getting rid of the ball while also helps footwork.
4) Relay Drill With Buckets-Reinforces correct relays with the challenge of knocking down buckets.
5) Baserunning Sign Drill-Two sets of bases saves time. Reaffirms kids learning signs.

I cannot wait for the upcoming season! Let the fun begin!

Seeking out youth baseball resources for five years, I now know why
Marty Schupak's are the best, he keeps it simple. I began buying his training videos which are great and this book is a perfect complement to all his videos. I don't fret with terms like "opening up too soon" or "the wrists must come first". His way is drill orientated where the players do great drills and learn from practice. He also combines tons of fun games i.e. TENNIS RACQUET HOME RUN DERBY or BASEBALL/FOOTBALL. My favorite is the incredible hitting drill called THE CONTINUATION DRILL. Yes, youth sports can have both skill building and fun. This stuff works. I never thought a book so simple would have the effect it had on my team. We won and had fun! We lost and still had fun! And most of all we played and got better! Don't try to read this in one sitting. Go through it and jot down drills in your own terms. Find out which drills your team likes. Refer back to the book. And yes, practice baserunning. No one else in your league does. The book will give you great baserunning tips.
THIS IS YOUTH BASEBALL HEAVEN!
