The latest Tom Hanks-Meg Ryan movie directed by Nora Ephron (Sleepless in Seattle) about two coworkers who hate each other at work and unknowingly fall in love on the Internet features an extremely eclectic soundtrack that's less technologically advanced than its movie's premise. There's no gratuitous raving or computer-buzzing techno, just pensive singer/songwriters and oldies that tug at the heartstrings. Louie Armstrong weighs in with "Dummy Song." Jimmy Durante pops up for "You Made Me Love You." Randy Newman's song for Frank Sinatra, "Lonely at the Top" (which Sinatra turned down), fits alongside Sinead O'Connor's spirited pass at Harry Nilsson's "I Guess the Lord Must Be in New York City." The late Nilsson himself is represented by "The Puppy Song" and "Remember." Stevie Wonder's soul shouter "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)" pumps things up, while Roy Orbison's "Dream" has his trademark sense of mystery and despair. --Rob O'Connor

I rarely find a CD that I can listen to again and again without getting tired.. but here's one! It has got so many songs that talk about dreams, loneliness.. the sort that makes you just want to grab a hot cup of tea and relax with. Some of my favorites are "Dreams" by The Cranberries, O'Connor's "I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City", and "Anyone At All" performed by Carole King. I've always loved Nilsson's "Remember"; the all time classic favorite "Over The Rainbow". A very great collection. Darin's "Splish Splash" has an upbeat to it that fits right in.

If you are looking for a CD to simply put on and relax to, this is it. It is filled with a colourful array of songs to tickle all parts of your heart.
For those who have seen this movie as many times as I have, you will treasure having this as part of your CD collection. Everytime I hear "Dreams" by the Cranberries, I instantly hear Kathleen Kelly's monologue over the top about what she feels when she receives her email from NY152.
A must hve.

I know that there are a lot of people, who rush right out there, and buy virtually every movie soundtrack, but I'm not one of them. And yes, "You've Got Mail" IS one of my favorite movies of all time. But recently, while watching it for the upteenth time, I realized that ONE of the reasons that I enjoyed it so much was BECAUSE of the music.
This soundtrack is THE BEST! It has such an ecclectric range of music. There are a lot of 50's tune and even one with Louis Armstrong! My FAVORITE is, "The Puppy Song." However, it also features songs by Harry Nilsson, The Cranberries, Jimmy Durante, Carole King, Roy Orbison, Stevie Wonder and more.
It has been YEARS since I first saw the movie and I have just gotten around to getting the soundtrack. After listening to it, I keep asking - "What took me so long???!"
Also - this CD features the soundtrack that has all the cute words to the songs featured in the movie. It is NOT the soundtrack that simply has the "background music."

Great collection of songs by terrific artists. "Dummy Song" (Louis Armstrong) is very funny; "The Puppy Song" (Harry Nilsson) is cute; "Rockin' Robin" (Bobby Day) and "Splish Splash" (Bobby Darin) are fun; "Dream" (Roy Orbison) and "I Guess the Lord Must Be in NYC" (Sinead O'Connor) are sweet and "Lonely at the Top" is sad. This soundtrack offers you a huge range of emotions... just like the movie does. I love to listen to this album. It recalls for me all the happy and friendly feelings I have when I watch the movie. In one word: DELIGHTFUL!

If you are a true romantic then this is the cd for you. I've seen the film now 15 times,(have it on dvd and video) and mainly because I love the music in it. The Puppy Song that opens the film is inspiring and gives you a 'good' feel about the movie to follow. A well deserved 5 stars

Call me cheesy (many people have) but this is a really cool CD. Here's a rundown of the highlights: "The Puppy Song", a song not so much about puppies as it is about feeling lonely (with a mighty catchy refrain), two essential tracks for any music fan, Louis Armstrong's "Dummy Song" and Stevie Wonder's "Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours" are here, and 2 songs that (for me) were as yet undiscovered -- Sinead O'Connor's "I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City" which is quite sweet and "I'm gonna sit right down and write myself a letter" by Billy Williams (this is another song, which at it's heart, is about loneliness). The mood of the music pretty much reflects the movie, so if you found the movie charming, chances are you will enjoy the CD as well.
This is a great mix of songs for weekend afternoons -- it's a cheerful mix that just kinda makes you smile. Recommended.

I think people of all ages should love this, I mean, I'm just a 12 year old girl, and I loved it, so did everyone I asked of other ages, including grown-ups said they absolutely loved both the movie and the music, most of the people that liked it were females although, but of course all the guys said it was trash, leave it to a guy, sheesh! If you liked the movie Sleepless In Seattle, (which would probably exclude all the guys in the entire world) then you'll love this movie, once again, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have successfully made another romantic, yet funny movie hit that will be a fav. of mine for years to come!

Having adored the film the moment I saw it, I couldn't wait to get the soundtrack. Not only did it not disappoint, but it included all the songs that make the movie so memorable. From the sweet Cranberries hit, Dreams, that fit perfectly to the vibe of NYC's Upper West Side, to the gentle sadness of Ray Orbison's Dream, each song fits the story like a glove. With a total of 15 tracks, this soundtrack is a complete joy to listen to over and over again. My toddlers even get a kick out of the oldies, Splish Splash an Rockin' Robin. It's a soundtrack to entertain all ages.
