5.0 out of 5 stars Great Mix of Favorites
I rarely find a CD that I can listen to again and again without getting tired.. but here's one! It has got so many songs that talk about dreams, loneliness.. the sort that makes you just want to grab a hot cup of tea and relax with. 3.0 out of 5 stars Very wonderful...but........
Very wonderful. Slow Harry Nilsson and Carole King songs, plus some up beat songs such as Stevie Wonder and such. Though these songs are good, they do get stuck in your head and you can't get them out. It gets annoying. Great songs, a must for anyone who likes GOOD music. Also features King Randy Newman, Sinead O'Connor, Billy Williams, The Cranberries, Jimmy Durante...

Some of my favorites are "Dreams" by The Cranberries, O'Connor's "I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City", and "Anyone At All" performed by Carole King. I've always loved Nilsson's "Remember"; the all time classic favorite "Over The Rainbow". A very great collection. Darin's "Splish Splash" has an upbeat to it that fits right in.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST Soundtracks Out There...., April 29, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: You've Got Mail: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I know that there are a lot of people, who rush right out there, and buy virtually every movie soundtrack, but I'm not one of them. And yes, "You've Got Mail" IS one of my favorite movies of all time. But recently, while watching it for the upteenth time, I realized that ONE of the reasons that I enjoyed it so much was BECAUSE of the music.

This soundtrack is THE BEST! It has such an ecclectric range of music. There are a lot of 50's tune and even one with Louis Armstrong! My FAVORITE is, "The Puppy Song." However, it also features songs by Harry Nilsson, The Cranberries, Jimmy Durante, Carole King, Roy Orbison, Stevie Wonder and more.

It has been YEARS since I first saw the movie and I have just gotten around to getting the soundtrack. After listening to it, I keep asking - "What took me so long???!"

Also - this CD features the soundtrack that has all the cute words to the songs featured in the movie. It is NOT the soundtrack that simply has the "background music."

5.0 out of 5 stars Movie In My Mind, January 5, 2000

If you are looking for a CD to simply put on and relax to, this is it. It is filled with a colourful array of songs to tickle all parts of your heart.

For those who have seen this movie as many times as I have, you will treasure having this as part of your CD collection. Everytime I hear "Dreams" by the Cranberries, I instantly hear Kathleen Kelly's monologue over the top about what she feels when she receives her email from NY152.

A must hve.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT!, June 26, 2001
This review is from: You've Got Mail: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Great collection of songs by terrific artists. "Dummy Song" (Louis Armstrong) is very funny; "The Puppy Song" (Harry Nilsson) is cute; "Rockin' Robin" (Bobby Day) and "Splish Splash" (Bobby Darin) are fun; "Dream" (Roy Orbison) and "I Guess the Lord Must Be in NYC" (Sinead O'Connor) are sweet and "Lonely at the Top" is sad. This soundtrack offers you a huge range of emotions... just like the movie does. I love to listen to this album. It recalls for me all the happy and friendly feelings I have when I watch the movie. In one word: DELIGHTFUL!

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvellous, March 10, 2000
This review is from: You've Got Mail: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
If you are a true romantic then this is the cd for you. I've seen the film now 15 times,(have it on dvd and video) and mainly because I love the music in it. The Puppy Song that opens the film is inspiring and gives you a 'good' feel about the movie to follow. A well deserved 5 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars A mix as charming as the movie, February 9, 2002
This review is from: You've Got Mail: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Call me cheesy (many people have) but this is a really cool CD. Here's a rundown of the highlights: "The Puppy Song", a song not so much about puppies as it is about feeling lonely (with a mighty catchy refrain), two essential tracks for any music fan, Louis Armstrong's "Dummy Song" and Stevie Wonder's "Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours" are here, and 2 songs that (for me) were as yet undiscovered -- Sinead O'Connor's "I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City" which is quite sweet and "I'm gonna sit right down and write myself a letter" by Billy Williams (this is another song, which at it's heart, is about loneliness). The mood of the music pretty much reflects the movie, so if you found the movie charming, chances are you will enjoy the CD as well.

This is a great mix of songs for weekend afternoons -- it's a cheerful mix that just kinda makes you smile. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyable soundtrack, February 13, 2006
This review is from: You've Got Mail: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Having adored the film the moment I saw it, I couldn't wait to get the soundtrack. Not only did it not disappoint, but it included all the songs that make the movie so memorable. From the sweet Cranberries hit, Dreams, that fit perfectly to the vibe of NYC's Upper West Side, to the gentle sadness of Ray Orbison's Dream, each song fits the story like a glove. With a total of 15 tracks, this soundtrack is a complete joy to listen to over and over again. My toddlers even get a kick out of the oldies, Splish Splash an Rockin' Robin. It's a soundtrack to entertain all ages.

This is a wonderful CD, starting with the first puppy song to the last Durante! I worked at an ice cream parlor and this is just the music to get the employees and myself ready to scoop. Fabulous! It also puts the customers is a good mood. We play it so much that our regulars refer to the CD as our "happy music." Great soundtrack to make someone feel happy! Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Cd is almost as great as the movie!, August 16, 2002

This review is from: You've Got Mail: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
The heart and soul of Nora Ephron's "You've Got Mail" are encompassed in this joyful, thoughtful, and completely enjoyable soundtrack. Each track is unique, coming from true artists and performers. This record is great to listen to anywhere, because none of the tracks are loud or offensive. I highly recomend the opening song of the soundtrack, which will lift your spirits and put a smile on your face. This is a great buy, and even those who think the movie is annoying will find the soundtrack to be something truly special.
