4.0 out of 5 stars A watershed moment January 23, 2004
Format:Audio CD
This is Third World's most significant transitional album. A wonderful example of how 2nd generation "Soul" music could relate and expand on what was happening in the reggae world mere months after the death of Bob Marley. While not as tight and passionate as Steel Pulse's "Earth Crisis," this is a wonderful album that speaks directly to the state of roots reggae at the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars INNA TIME LIKE THIS .... shine like a blazing fire... February 28, 2004
Format:Audio CD
Third World Shines like a blazing fire;;; listening to them, they seemed to be the clean cut Reggae band, never seeming to mention ganja; always being upbeat; even in their sadder songs, maybe at times, this makes it "appear" superficial, not covering say, dire stoic topics like Uhuru yet, as I listened to them, in Las Cruces New Mexico;
maybe POSITIVE VIBRATION is what it is about too.... this album rocks? soul, I suppose and reggae but it rocks too.
This album, "You've Got the Power" and the previous, "Rock the World" to me, seem to go together well, while "Sense of Purpose", the following, isn't my cup of tea much at all; not like these 2 which I see, as Masterpieces:
Mellow, talented; Third world, what, it's like there is about 9 of them, guy, Cat, who has by coincidence a cat in the hat hat, back then, they all have clear eyes and white smiles; Ruggs, seems to be equally in charge as well;
Seems with 3rd World, a good way to analyze, are to list the stellar, outstanding, overstanding songs: Hence:
"Try Jah Love", the opening, is just short of highest status, I give to 3rd World songs;
"Ride On Jah Children", the 2nd track, is one of Third Worlds top songs, so many though, but it is excellent, "C'mon and pack your things, children, Zion is waiting."
"You're Playing us to close", makes good social commentary; and in some cases, it is okay, at interlude, some sermonizing goes on,
" Now when I was just a little boy my grandfather
use to say to me, "Brother B, trust no shadow
after dark... "It's not till I grew to be a man that
I understand what the old brother was talking
about."
additionally, goes without saying, nice use of keyboards by 3rd World.
