About the Author

Artist/author Kazuki Takahashi first tried to break into the manga business in 1982, but success eluded hiim until Yu-Gi-Oh! debuted in the Japanese Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1996. Yu-Gi-Oh!'s themes of friendship and fighting, together with Takahashi's weird and imaginative monsters, soon became enormously successful, spawning a real-world card game, video games, and three anime series (two Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh! series and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX). A lifelong gamer, Takahashi enjoys Shogi (Japanese chess), Mahjong, card games, and tabletop RPGs, among other games.

While the copy I received did have a rough life; the flaws were only cosmetic. This volume continues the Duelist Kingdom arc with scenes that were considered too intense for the anime; making it an ideal purchase for older fans of Yu-Gi-Oh. The artwork and pacing are wonderful, making this a great addition to any manga or Yu-Gi-Oh collection.

This volume has my favorite part of Duelist Kingdom in it, where Jonouchi and Yugi fight the Paradox Brothers. There is just something about this duel that I love. It also has my favorite fusion monster in it, the Black Skull Dragon! That thing is just awesome!

There are only 2 things about this volume that I don't like.

1. In chapter 42 it shows a picture of Yugi but it labels his life points as "Jonouchi," when it's clearly Yugi. Jonouchi isn't even in that duel, he is on the sidelines cheering Yugi on.
2. Kaiba pulling the emo card of, "If you don't let me win I'll kill myself!" It's just a lame move and it irks me that he did this.

All in all it's a great volume and I love this story. Check it out!
