5.0 out of 5 stars Yu-Gi-Oh: not just for Nihon-jin anymore...
I have played the Japanese version of this game [and I hold high hopes for the English version]. As compared to the graphics of Dark Duel Stories, the graphics of Dungeon Dice are amazing [GBC to GBA, you do the math]. The game is a bit more complex than the Duel Monsters card game, and this makes Dungeon Dice a game that seems to be geared more towards older players...

5.0 out of 5 stars High Rolling Dungeon Dice! (Son & Father Review), March 17, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters (Video Game)
I'm 8 years old and I wrote and typed this review by myself and no it was not for school.

The Dungeon Dice game is almost totally different from the card game!

If you have never played it I highly recommend it. If you don't have a Game Boy Advanced don't worry. On April 2003 the board game is coming out. I thought the Yu-Gi-Oh card game was great but when I saw this I went nuts!! It is one of the most amazing games I have ever played!!!! All the games made by KONAMI that I have played turned out to be AWESOME!!!

The Dungeon Dice game is very complicated. You need certain "crests" to move your monsters and other crests to summon your monsters and some crests even let monsters use their special abilities but that's enough about crests.

GOLD: you use gold to by new dice at Grandpa's Shop. TOURNAMENT: if you press this then you have to choose which kind of tournament you want to play in. If you win a battle in a tournament you get another die. If you win the whole tournament you get 100 gold and there will always be a gold cup next to the tournament you won. FREE DUEL: when you win a battle in a tournament you can play that same person if you press free duel in the menu screen. If you beat someone in a free duel then you also get a monster die.

That is all I know so far so I hope you will try this game!!

I'm the father of the above reviewer. I agree that this is a very good game. It is a nice combination of dice rolling randomness with strategy. It also is a novel use of the information from the card characters in a new setting. If you already have the first Yu-Gi-Oh GBA game, this one definitely is different; it's a new game in the same universe. The rules and game lay out seemed a bit confusing to me at first, but with the above-reviewer's assistance, we were playing smoothly within 20 minutes of turning it on. If you have not played the Yu-Gi-Oh card game already, it will probably take longer to get the feel of the game. We have definitely gotten our money's worth on this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars SWEET, February 10, 2003
This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters (Video Game)
This game is similar to the extravagent game we know and love as Duel Monsters. This new virtual board game is based on the hit show Yu-Gi-Oh! In several of the episodes a new player describes the rules (vaguely I might add)of this enthralling game. Dungeon Dice Monster's is a game where you set monsters, traps, and magic along a road created by the folding dice (cool!) to create passage that reaches your opponents heart points. Then your attack with your monsters you previously set to defeat your opponent. This is an awesome game. I'd reccommend it to anyone who likes board games or Yu-Gi-Oh!
P.S.-don't get lost in the dungeons, trust me your not gonna like it. <lol>

5.0 out of 5 stars Dungeon Dice Monsters - Based on a game from the show YuGiOh, January 26, 2003
This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters (Video Game)
DungeonDiceMonsters is a very entertaining game. Many games get me bored quickly but the strategy and monsters of this game got me hooked. I have played the Japanese version (after fooling with it for a while to figure out what does what..i dont know japanese) and after that it was very good. It's not one of those simple little game where its always the same, each opponent has a different way of opposing you, some build strong defense, while others go straight for your heart points. Such differences make no duel the same and keep the player thinking. To sum this all up, the game rocks.

3.0 out of 5 stars From cards to dice?, January 10, 2003

I played this game in its Japanese format. I don't know what changes were made, but I'm a big fan of the Duel Monsters card game. It's not that the game is a difficult one to adapt to, it's just that there are so many rules on the dice and combinations that it makes the gameplay more then a little difficult to understand. Different roles of the dice gives different abilities when matched up correctly. It's not a bad game, in fact, it's easy to get hooked on it. If you've ever played a D&D type game, but with strategy and elements involved, then you should do fine. Personally, I'd rather stick with the card game, but DDM is worth it, if you can get over the rules and regulations/game play, that is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Master Duelist Says:, October 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters (Video Game)
This is an over all great game. Another great extension from the great animators of Konami. It has very beautifully animated graphics that can make it #1 for graphics on GBA, they are unmatched to all the others with the exception on Golden Sun: Lost Age. The Game of Dungeon Dice Monsters is like no other Duel Monsters game. Instead of playing with cards you play with small Duel Monsters figurines. The game isnt too complicated but it still takes some getting used to...

DDM is one of the greastest duel monsters game ever made because of its unique style of game play and the exciting rules that take duel mosnters to the next level. So when February Rolls around be sure to go pick up your own copy of this amazing game. Trust me you wont regret it!

3.0 out of 5 stars A fair game, for those with time to spare..., May 1, 2003

This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters (Video Game)
This game isn't awful, to those loyal to the yugioh monster pack. As anyone could notice the music on this can get really REALLY agitating, so be ready to turn down the sound and boost up your cd player, cause some of these duels can last up to 4 hours! (Depending on difficulty) The graphics are so-so, but for those who have played the Eternal Duelist Soul game for too long (like myself) you will find it amusing and addictive. Again this is only for those who are loyal, otherwise you might just want to rent this one... A slightly annoying 3 out of 5

5.0 out of 5 stars Dungeon Dice Monsters, A fascinating game!, February 19, 2003
This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters (Video Game)
Dungeon Dice Monsters for the GBA is a spin-off of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game. To put it simply and vague, the card game becomes a board game with dice. However, the game has many different rules, such as the ability to summon changes, by rolling two summoning crests(the star symbols on the dice) of the same level in a 3 dice per turn roll. The rules however, are much more complex then the actual card game and the game leaves one thing that will drive you crazy, no apparent tutorial within the games menu. So therefore the only hope I can give you so that you learn the rules, is either try to watch the episodes with Dungeon Dice Monsters(I don't reccomend this if you want to understand the game.) or just read the instruction manual. The manual should teach you some of the basics and get you started. The game could get frustrating when you find that people have impossible to get dice and the shop in the game could have more dice selections. Overall this is a great game, but personally if the actual game that Mattel is making was available now, I would rather buy that then the video game. Enjoy Dungeon Dice Monsters!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters (Video Game)
This game is very fun. It is mostly a strategy game. It is very complicated as you go through it. That's what makes it so fun. If you are a Yu-Gi-Oh fan, get this game. Learn the rules first.

How did cards turn into dice?I don't know but I played this game and its Fantastic!I played it for hours and I wasn't bourd! Well' some people may say something diffrint because I'm a HUGE Yu-Gi-Oh fan and I love all Yu-Gi-Oh games. But evan if I wasn't a Yu-Gi-Oh fan, I will still rate it 5 star. But if you still not sure about getting this game, rent it first.
