4.0 out of 5 stars Great deck!
This is a great deck that has the powerfull Red Eyes Black Dragon(Attack: 2400, Defense: 2000), Polyimerezation, and also Scapegoat. 3.0 out of 5 stars An ok deck
Most of the reviews for this say that is a great deck. It is a GOOD deck. It is NOT good by itself! The most powerful card is the Red Eyes Black Dragon whose attack is only 2400. You can maybe power it up over 2800 with this deck if you are lucky enough to get the needed cards. I have the Yugi, Joey, and Pegasus decks, and I realy do like them. If you are going to get...

5.0 out of 5 stars New Joey Starter Deck improves Duelist Fundamentals!, September 27, 2003
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Joey Starter Deck [Toy] (Toy)
I have to say that compared to the original starter decks, Yugi and Kaiba, Upper Deck has done an excellent job of improving on the variety of cards and even providing a reprint of the manual with updated rules. The main difference between both the Pegasus and Joey Starter decks is the complexity of their deck contents. For those of you just beginning as a Yu-Gi-Oh! player, I recommend the Joey deck over the Pegasus deck. The Joey deck has powerful cards, such as Red Eyes Black Dragon and will help teach beginners to learn and focus on stratagies that will ultimatly help them get much better and possibly master the game. This Starter Deck also contains many Rare cards from the earlier expansions so you don't constantly have to buy cards from older sets, but the beginner can instead focus on mastering the new set of rules introduced with each booster expansion. Once the beginner has mastered the essential rules they can begin to either modify or change their entire deck structure by adding the Pegasus Starter Deck, which is also an excellent addition to any duelist's arsenal or they can continue to collect cards from booster expansions such as Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon, Metal Raiders, Magic Ruler, Pharaoh's Servant, Labyrinth of Nightmare, Legacy of Darkness, Pharanoic Guardian and the soon to be released Magician's Force.
This starter deck will also help the advanced duelist improve their magic, trap and effect monster aresenal because it adds many usefull cards such as Magic Jammer, ScapeGoat and Penguin Soldier. Those of you just starting, I wish all of you good luck in your quest to master this exciting and challenging collectable card game.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, April 15, 2003

OK, so you say you aren't rich enough to get good Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. Well stop complaining because now you have two new starter decks and they come chocked full with STAPLE cards that are otherwise Super or Ultra rare and would cost a fortune to get (Change of Heart, Monster Reborn, Polymerization, etc.). The Joey deck is a great balance of monsters and magic with a dash of fusion monsters just for kicks. There is much debate over "which deck is better", however it really depends on the skills of the duelist. Mom's and Dad's: you need to get your own deck and challenge your kids. The only way to get good at the game is to play and experiment with different strategies. Also, it's good quality time with your kids and it gets them away from the television.

To make a great deck you need good cards.
I would recomend the Joey deck because it has cards that younger duelists can understand.
I would only use 65 to 70 cards in my deck.
For more expierienced duilests I would buy the Pegusuas deck the Kieba deck I would not buy.

this Deck has a lot of good cards like Poilermazation, it can fuse two of your own monsters to create a more powerfull one. Heres the reviw of the cards:
ScapeGoat: a little shiny stall card, but a stall card no less.
Milus Raidiant: It increases the power of your Earth types, but decreases Wind types. Very good but too weak to do any good.
Pegiun Solider: excellent. Thats all I can Say. Return two monsters to thiere hand for the price of one?
Haipie's brother/7-Collerd Fish: Two 1800 ATK monsters?!? Just add Laginn from the Kaiba starter and you get a perfect BeatDown.
Time wizzard: Works better with Baby Dragon. It can give you the win or blow your self up.
Red eyes Black Dragon: A dragon not to be messed with. Combined with Dragon Treaser and Moutian, you have one nasty combo there.
Thousand Dragon: Same as the Red Eyes, but needs more work to get out.
Dark Fire Solider #1: 1700 ATK,. Nough Said.
ultimite Offering: Can help in getting out your Red Eyes.
Sangan: can help you get your Baby Dragon/ Time wizzard/Masaki/Proyo Sorcer.
Magician of Faith: Reuse your Poliermazation.
flame Swordsman:Another 1800 monster that you need to speacel summon woith Polermazation.
Polermazation: What a great card, only you need two or three in a deck to use. Lucky you got Sangan and Monster reborn to get back your Sangan.
Hope this Reviw has servend you well as how you could build a better Joey Deck.

This deck is very good for an experinced duelest. You do have to add on to this deck. But it has some great cards: Red Eyes, Scapegoat, and Fake Trap. Don't worry this has more good cards. So if you are a good duelest with an okay deck I would recomend that you get this deck.

The Joey is a very fun deck with great cards, but if you're an experienced duelist, you might not have much fun with it. I recommend this deck to collectors or beginner duelists. If you looking for more of a challenging deck, try the Pegasus deck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yu-Gi-Oh!, March 3, 2007
A Kid's Review
I am not just reviewing the Joey starter deck but all yugioh starter decks in particular.

Joey Starter Deck: Has a descent range of effect and high attacking low level monsters: Harpies Brother, 7 Coloured Fish, Gearfried the Iron Night. Has a good amount of spell and traps to power up Red Eyes Black Dragon so that it can take on Yugi's Dark Magician and Kaiba's Blue Eyes White Dragon, for example: Dragons Treasure, Reinforcements of the Army, Malevolent Nuzzler. Includes powerful Joey cards such as Scapegoat, Penguin Soldier, Polymerisation, Giant Trunade, Polymerisation, Sheild and Sword,Flame Swordsman, Time Wizard and Thousand Dragon. Overall this deck is a good starter because it introduces duelists to combonation attacks, fusing monsters to create more powerful ones and using equip and field spell cards to your advantage.

Kaiba Starter Deck: My first deck which contains the powerful Blue Eyes White Dragon. This deck uses powerful beatstick monsters: Blue Eyes, Judgeman, La Jinn, Ru Kishen Powered and lower level fiends and beasts: Ogre of the Back Shadow, Dark Titan of Terror and Master and Expert. You need to combine these monsters with cards such ad Dark Energy and Invigoration to make them tough enough for battle. This is a good starter deck because makes good use of Kaiba's signature cards(Blue Eyes White Dragon, Judgeman, La Jinn, Dark Energy and lord if D to introduce new players to the world of Yugioh.

Yugi Deck: This deck contains Yugi's signature monsters and cards; Drak Magician, Summoned Skull, Feral Imp, Celtic guardian, Monster Reborn and Swords of Revealing Light to name but a few. You will need to combine your monsters with magic so that they can take down Kaiba's ultimate dragon and Joeys powerful Beatstick monsters. This deck is more balanced than Kaibas which has too much monsters and this deck has more of Yugi's well known cards.

Pegasus: Finally, the Pegasus Starter Deck. This deck was definatly designed for the more experienced players as it uses more complex strategies and a lot more effect monsters than the previous decks. It includes many of the cards seen in Pegasus's duels against Yugi and Kaiba such as: Illusionist Faceless Mage, Toon Blues White Dragon, Toon World and the powerful RELINQUISHED. A good deck over all.
