Editorial Reviews

With Yusuke’s life in his hands, Toguro begins to toy with the fallen Spirit Detective trying to anger him enough to power up to 100% power. Genkai takes over the body of Poo and gives Toguro the key to unlocking Yusuke’s hidden rage! With his best friend lying cold on the arena floor, Yusuke feels a limitless surge of energy rush through his body. Laying it all on the line Yusuke delivers one final attack. When the smoke clears the crowd is shocked at what they see! Is this the end? Could it be possible that either fighter still stands? The Dark Tournament ends with the most explosive battle of all time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet,Gory and Hilarious, January 31, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Yu Yu Hakusho - Dark Tournament - Tournament's End (Uncut) (DVD)
I really llike this Yu yu hakusho episode. It was the final battle between Yusuke and Toguro. It was an outstanding battle. It was very bloody indeed how Toguro was hurting Yusuke. It was sweet with Keiko and Yusuke started thinking about each other. Keiko started to cry and dreamt about Hers and Yusuke childhood together.Genkai takes over Pu's body and heads over to Yusuke and tells him that Toguro must kill one of his friends. Toguro chooses one of Yusuke's closest friend to be killed. That part was very bloody. Yusuke is very upset and tells Togoro how much he had made him feel. Yusuke gets mad and uses his ultimate shotgun to fire at Togoro. But the shotgun had started to wear out and Togoro was still standing. Also Yusuke was out of power.
Could this be that end of Yusuke?Or is Yusuke's friend really dead? You'll have to watch it if you want to find out the rest.
There was a very sad moment for Shizuru and it was sweet with Hiei and Yukina. Well youll have to watch! I know you guys will love it you Yu Yu Hakusho fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hands down the best volume yet. Do NOT miss it., January 17, 2004
This review is from: Yu Yu Hakusho - Dark Tournament - Tournament's End (Uncut) (DVD)
The conclusion to the Dark Tournament, something that started in the US a full year ago, has finally come. It's Yusuke vs. Toguro, but Yusuke's getting beaten BADLY. To unlock his true power, Toguro will kill Yusuke's best friend....... which means I'd hate to be Kuwabara right now. Even though the battle's only the first half of the volume, the second half is just as good, if not better. The first half is really the fight, the second is the drama afterwards. And they both equal some excellent episodes. Genkai's goodbye to Toguro in the last episode is a very good moment, leaving me at the end of my seat even more than any battle in the series thus far. And the voice acting on both versions is great. The US dub has done a very good job, giving real believability and emotion to the characters. It's hard to believe that these are the same people responsible for the awful DBZ dub. This is a perfect example of why Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the best anime I've seen thus far.

I have never given a 10/10 score to Yu Yu Hakusho DVD before.

I am gladly giving one now.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Comes to This...The End of the Dark Tournament!, April 30, 2004

This review is from: Yu Yu Hakusho - Dark Tournament - Tournament's End (Uncut) (DVD)
It's finally here! The last fight of the Dark Tournament has arrived and both fighters are ready! Once again, my crappy subtitles and cutting entire parts of fights comes into effect making my review based on around 5 minutes. But I still can write a good review!

Toguro has Yusuke on the ropes and begins to play with his mind to release what he wants to face: 100% of Yusuke's power! He learns from his former fighting partner, the late Genkai, currently possessing Puu, Yusuke's spirit beast, how to finally release that power. Unfortunetely for Yusuke, it involves killing his best friend.

With Kuwabara dead (I'm implying he's dead due to the fact that his heart seems to have been ripped out), Yusuke releases all the energy he can. With his final blow, he fires his spirit gun at maximum power, but Toguro counters with 120% of his energy! (Don't ask me how it's possible, I'm in advanced math and don't feel like trying to explain it even to myself)
With that, Yusuke shatters Toguro's demon body he recieved from the Dark Tournament 50 years prior. Finally, HE"S DEAD!!!

In all: this is the greatest end to the series I could see! Even though Kuwabara and Genkai seemed to have died, I'm guessing they're coming back since they're in the movie, Poltergeist Report (see my other review there).
