Product Description

Editorial Review

This set includes both an action figure and a game, which should appeal to Yu-Gi-Oh! fans. The Magician of Black Chaos stands 6 inches tall and is a navy blue color with lots of lighter purple rings around his skinny arms and legs. A flamelike pattern drapes down the back of his neck (perhaps his hair) and two big horns sprout over his minuscule head. He's articulated only at the neck and shoulders, although his head can't twist easily as his big hair gets in the way. The figure also comes with a thin staff with an eyelike bulb at the top of it. The Jnego Jen game includes eight "star chip" coins, two dice (one black and one white), and four cardboard chips. Players begin by divvying up the coins and then use the cardboard chips to make predictions on how the dice will fall. The player who does best garnishes more plastic coins, until eventfully one player has them all and wins. It's basically gambling, but hopefully kids will stick with the "star chip" currency and not dip into their lunch money. --David Morel

This review is from: Yu-gi-oh! Magician of Black Choas & Game (Toy)
This Magician is so sinister-looking that I wonder why the Christian freaks haven't yet swarmed the WB network with protests! But he looks SO incredibly cool propped up on my computer. It's an excellently faithful rendition of the cartoon character-- they got his delicate little face down perfectly, right down to the turquoise skin and fancy eyeliner. You can see the detail on every buckle of the bondage-straps all up and down his arms and legs, the creases in his clothes, every strand of perpetually-airborne hair, and the pentagram on his forehead.

Only trouble is-- his legs are so long, and his hair is so huge, that he doesn't stand up on his own. How can the poor guy stand and deliver the Black Forces of Chaos properly, when his center of gravity is way up around his neck? And there's no stand included. So if you want this lanky little Magician to stand up, you'll have to tape his back to something, stick Fun-Tak to the bottom of his shoes, or jam the end of the staff against something that he can lean on. (I don't know how they managed to take that photo for the Amazon.com listing!)

Also, he doesn't hold onto the magic staff very well... but then, I have yet to find *any* action figure that can hold its weapons properly anyway, so that's par for the course.
