5.0 out of 5 stars great
perfect for everyone, i lived in the yucatan and find this book perfect for when i cook in the states because it gives alternatives to the ingredients that i can only get in the yucatan. easy instructions and recipes while being incredibly authentic.

rather boring.Same spices and flavors over and over. Tried the shrimp marinade recipe, not that great. Sorry, I would not buy this book again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Many of the dishes have been adapted from regional cookbooks, November 6, 2003
This review is from: Yucatan Kitchen, A: Regional Recipes from Mexico's Mundo Maya (Paperback)
This introduction to regional Mexican dishes of the Yucatan provides an easy basic beginner's guide which describes what ingredients are common to Mayan foods, techniques for preparation, and classic dishes. Many of the dishes have been adapted from regional cookbooks to make them easy for the home American chef to prepare, while introductory notes on local cuisines and specialties provide insights into the origins of dishes. There are some real surprises here - such as Pork Simmered in Cola - but anticipate a book which is filled with delightful surprises and fun.
