Stunning beauty still awaits you in Mexico, March 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Yucatan Peninsula (Hardcover)
If you are the sort of traveler, armchair and otherwise, that prefers quiet natural splendors over raucous fun on the beach, the Yucatan Peninsula will have great appeal. Photographer Lockwood spent the better part of a year documenting the stunning beauty of the areas remaining wilderness, principally at the island atolls of Arrecife Alacran and Banco Chinchorro, and the nature reserves Sian Ka'an and Calakmul. As the extraordinary photos and brief essays make clear, such natural splendors won't last long unless we all treat the land and its inhabitants with sensitivity and respect.
Makes a wonderful gift for anyone contemplating a trip to the area.

The Yucatan Peninsula, February 1, 2011
This review is from: The Yucatan Peninsula (Hardcover)
I met CC when he was living in Akumal. He and his friends took me cavern diving for the first time at Car Wash. I later got my cavern certification. I own a home in Akumal and keep his book there for guests to enjoy. A favorite for me, his book covers so much that I've yet to explore, such as Calakmul. CC's narrative and photography is wonderful. Love to look at the photos and remember diving friends, "There's Richard." "There's Jim." So much has changed in 22 years, but this book is truly timeless. I also own CC's Grand Canyon book.
