Not enough details and poor placement of sites
on June 30, 2011
I bought this map to help with navigating around Cancun, the Riviera Maya, and Chichen Itza by car. It turns out that the free tourist maps of these areas not only show a lot more details, but they also more accurately show the placement of sites of interest to tourists like me. This map makes it appear as though there is no civilization on the routes between cities when, in fact, there are several communities, ruins, cenotes, side roads, beaches, and other interesting features that can be explored. The map would benefit greatly from smaller scale maps to help you get around the larger cities as well. Even the sites they do show are not placed too precisely. For example, on the map it appears as though there are ruins spread over several kilometers around the town of Coba when, in fact, all of the ruins are part of the same complex, within walking distance of each other. Maybe this map will serve you well for planning general routes, but don't expect it to help you navigate between anything but the largest cities.
