3.0 out of 5 stars what's the big deal?
Ok I have no idea what the rage is with all of these card games. My 5 year old son loves Yu Gi Oh, however I have no idea where he ever even heard of it. I don't understand what you do with these cards but I do know kids love it.

Yu-gi-oh! Trading Card Game is the best Card Game available now, and has over taken the Pokemon Trading Card Game in popularity. The Yu-gi-oh! Trading Card Game is based of the Duel Monsters in the hit TV show on Kids WB. There are 4 types of cards in the game now, Monster, Magic, Trap, and Fusion Monster cards. In a duel, you start out with 8000 life points, and the first to hit 0 loses. You make damage in eachothers life points by using monsters in combination with magic or trap cards. The Yu-gi-oh! Card Game is very educational, in that you must strategize what cards you will play, how to counter attacks, and how to mathematically figure out the amount of life points you have. Each monster card has an attack strength and defense strength. The strongest card in the Yugi Starter Deck is the Dark Magician, one of the best in the game, with an attack power of 2500. Strong monsters in this deck also include, the Summoned Skull, Gaia the Fierce Knight, and Curse of Dragon. The Yugi Starter deck is based on the cards that Yugi uses in his duels on the TV show, as well as the Kaiba Deck for Seto Kaiba. As for the durability of the cards, I would suggest taking care of your cards well, especially the rare cards, since they are not as durable as playing cards or others. Still, this is probably the best card game you will play, so I suggest also buying the Kaiba starter deck as well. You will get the Legendary Blue Eyes White Dragon, with an attack of 3000. Boosters for the game are also available now, with the Legends of Blue Eyes, Metal Raiders, and coming soon in September, Magic Ruler. Buy the boosters and get even stronger monsters and magic cards. The game of Yu-gi-oh! is ever expanding and the series is a phenomenom in both the US and Japan. Buy the Yu-gi-oh! Starter decks today and start dueling! It's time to duel!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Card Game Ever! Read Mines!, August 3, 2002
A Kid's Review

I've played Pokemon, Digimon, Magic The Gathering. All of them were fun, but I got bored of them fast. They were never addictive, just fun. Man! This is the real deal! It's addictive! I never get bored. No matter how many times I lose, win, I just keep on playing this card game! It was so addictive that when I played at 1:00 in the afternoon, I played until it got dark! This game has the most strategies than any other card game. It makes you think a lot. Trust me! I have experiences. This is the best card game ever! Did you know, only on Yu-Gi-Oh's first set (Legend Of Blue Eyes) actually made more profit than all of pokemons sets combined! Now for the description. You and your opponent will consist of three duels. Who wins most of three duels win the entire duel. The fun thing about it, you can lead your opponents into a trap or use magics to decrease their power! It's Time To Duel!!!

Yugi Deck: It's better. This deck doesn't have the best power, but it has awesome magics and traps backing it up. Trust me, using this deck tricks your opponent into a trap, spell. This deck has something Kaiba's doesn't have, the Change of Heart magic card. If your opponent has a Blue Eyes out use this magic card and "Wham!" Now it's under your control!

Kaiba Deck: Has a lot of power and strength, but lacks good magic and traps, but his deck is awesome too!

Durability: These cards are not as durable as Pokemons, but just buy protectors and everything will be just fine! Notice, these cards are a tiny bit smaller than Pokemons.

Age: This card game is for ages above 6. I've seen ages 8 play. I've seen 10, 12, 13 and the age goes on. I've even seen College age, High School, adults, old people!

I hoped my review helped you! I did my best! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you very much!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Entertaning Card Game, December 5, 2002

I enjoyed the show and when I first saw the cards I just had to get them. Although these aren't made from the most resilient material, they shouldn't be damaged unless you're careless. The game is for slightly older kids unless you're really smart. The game has a simple concept, eliminate your opponents monsters so you can attack them directly, although there are other ways of doing it.

These particular decks amazed me, for being starter decks they are fairly powerful. This deck has cards like Change of Heart, allows you to control your opponents monsters for a turn, and the famous Dark Magician. If you like the show or just like cards, I recommend this product. And if you follow the rules, I won't be mad at you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Only Game Worth Playing, August 25, 2002

Out of all the card games this is the only one in the bunch that is worth playing. I like this game because you can relate it to the show. Unlike the other card games where you can't, like Pokemon, because they don't use cards. The game is fun when you trade, but if you want to get full use of this game, you should battle. The monsters are all that. The way they look on the card is awsome. Like Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Rude Kaiser and Summoned Skull and Dark Magician and I could go on and on. The only Problem is the rules of this card game are a little different than the ones on the show. You know how Yugi can just put down the Dark Magician as soon as he gets him, well in this game you have to sacrifice some of your cards to put him out. Trust me, I've been in a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament. Also to all you parents reading this out there, if your going to buy your son or daughter some yugioh cards, get them a stater deck. If you don't get them a stater deck, they won't get a rulebook and they won't know the rules and they might never get good. Lastly, If you are wondering why I gave it a 5 star in educatinal is because the game involes lots of addition and subtraction. Well that's all I can say with a 1,000 word limit.

SEE YA!

Whoever said that this game is for 4- 10 years is wrong. Me and my friends (12 going on 13) can play this for hours at a time. It is somewhat hard to learn, but is extremly fun! If someone younger is playing, I guess it would help them learn to add and stuff, but I think that it is more geared towards older kids. To have a chance of winning competivily, one must formulate stratagies to beat opponents. You also mustt be quick to think to develop counter-stratigies against opponents. The cards aren't very durable and bend easy but that is a minor setback to a great game.

I got this deck last month. I had no idea how to play but I liked the cards. I've countined collecting the cards, and I now have a total of 123 cards. I found the game to be a very difficult game to play. I would like to make a recommendation. After talking with my mom and dad about ways of making the game really neat I thought that making an electronic device that reads information off a magnetic strip on the card would help tell you which card is the strongest or the lowest and which would win and which would go to the graveyard. This way no one would have to figure out how many life points you have left and would also determine who won. I recommend anyone starting off to purchase the Yugi starter deck. It is full of magic cards, trap cards and monster cards. The Kaiba starter deck is full of monster cards and not many trap or magic cards.

YuGiOh is quite fun if you know how to play it. It's not even complicated at all. This is similar to other card games as well. Buy boosters, buy starters, and keep luck and you might find a rare card in a booster pack. Anyways, this is easy to learn, anyone can try it.

Let me tell you something..., don't buy these cards because of the material but buy them because of how fun they are. They are made of very cheap material and not worth up to 4.99 a pack of 9 cards. Pokemon cards and most baseball cards are 1.99 to 2.99 a pack and they are made of way better material. But back to reality now, the starter decks are a great way of getting started to build your deck. The truth is that 6/10 kids on your block will be collecting these in the months to come so why don't you just start now? I started collecting a month ago. I've never bought a starter deck until now but I've bought 6 booster packs of Magic Ruler cards. I bought Kaiba and Yugi starter decks because I wanted to mix them up with my 54 booster cards and create an awesome, unstoppable dueling force of cards. I played my friend yesterday and beat him since I mixed and matched the cards to suit my needs. For birthday's or any special occasion, these are a good way to get any kid started on the road to duelist kingdom. It improves your math abilities as well as you thinking skills because it involves a lot of strategy and that will help kids maybe even do better in their school. The Yugi starter deck contains Dark Magician with 2500ATK/2100DEF and the Kaiba Deck contains Blue Eyes White Dragon with 3000ATK/2500DEF. Although it seems like Kaiba's Deck is the better choice, I recommend the Yugi deck for beginners. It has cards that are good for starting novice players. Kaiba's deck is good for adding on to your deck of cards. But don't get these confused with Pokemon, these are way cooler and funner to play. I recommend this to anyone any age!

the yugi starter deck is the better of the two starter decks(not that the kabia deck isnt worth it). they both have powerful creatures but the yugi deck has better traps and more good spells. the game is realistically learnable in 15 min. my favorite card in the deck is the change of heart because you can control one your opponents creatures. ive played magic, pokemon, and digimon but this game is the best and most stratigacle and probally the most fun, but thats just what i think. the cards are not as durable as pokemon cards and rip eaisier put good card protectors can fix that.the other day i was playing with friend who is a lot more expirienced than me who was using his kabia deck. i used dragon capture bottle on his blue eyes white dragon(bewd) and beat him by a lot.
i wouldnt recomend this game to anyone under 7 due to the fact that it is somewhat complicated but ive seen people who are up to 18 playing this game and i even talked my mom into playing it once.

If you won't buy these cards for your kids because the rise and fall of Pokemon, go ahead and buy them! These cards won't fall for a long time, trust me! These cards will provide lots of fun and do support education. In Duel Monsters(YuGiOh cards) you and your opponent have life points. If you attack with a monster with 3000 attack power and your opponent has a monster out of 1800 attack power the 1800 is subtracted from 3000 and that is how many life points they lose. Whoever losses all their lifepoints losses. They also require stratigic thinking. I think anyone could enjoy these!
