I am very impressed with this Night Vision Monocular. The quality is excellent, uses 2 "AA" batteries and is crystal clear. Focuses easily and it maintains a sharp image. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good product for the price.
It just arrive on time, it was shipped well packed and fast. The vision is clear but the field of view is somewhat narrow the ir emitter works well maybe too brilliant in a close field, however I think it is ok for the price. I takes some time to focus at the begining but this is my first night vision so I have nothing to compare with. I would recommend to allow the scope...

I am very impressed with this Night Vision Monocular. The quality is excellent, uses 2 "AA" batteries and is crystal clear. Focuses easily and it maintains a sharp image. In some other units I tested the IR illuminator basically was worthless but in this unit it makes a dramatic difference. The buttons are very easy to find in the dark and the Monocular fits in your hand well for comfortable viewing. Simple to use, 1 button for on/off, 1 button for IR and a focus ring! The unit needs to warm up a few minutes for full illumination.

You won't find a better night vision Monocular in this price range.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yukon Spirit Night Vision 4x50 Monocular, December 29, 2010

This unit is all I was waiting for, a low weight monocular that is powerful and looks nice. This Yukon NV monocular has a powerful IR illuminator that allows you to see in pitch black. I will soon test it on a nocturnal hunt, will be looking for rabbits so I will tell you how does it performs out there in the field. But for now, there are some pros and cons.
PROS:
1. The unit is powerful, lights up a big place with IR light so you can see in dark.
2. The unit is really easy to understand and use.
3. The unit uses 2-AA batteries, buy some rechargeable or some Lithium batteries, they last long.
4. Feels well constructed, outside material is rubber, which helps with the grip, so you dont throw it and it comes with a cord so you get it on your wrist, even though, seems delicate so make sure you dont drop it ; ).
5. The unit has a 50mm lens, which allows more light in so you get better image, and a 4x zoom, which comes handy in some situations.

CONS: I could not find anything bad on this unit, until the second day of using it, I give it to my sister, so she was able to test it also and i noticed the unit emits a red light from the IR iluminator, so if you are playing something like Paintball or Airsoft, if you are able to see somebody in total darkness, the person who is being observated will see a red light watching him. But maybe an IR filter blocks that red light and you are total invisible.

Totally recommended, very good quality unit, it does what it is supposed to do.
This is to review the product, which I already did. Finally, the seller, Ace Photo Digital was ok, delivered on time and no trouble with them, besides, they offered the lowest price on the unit so I hope they last.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entry level Night Vision brings the night forest to life., October 9, 2010

This review is from: Yukon™ 4x50 mm Spirit™ Night Vision Monocular (Electronics)
After purchasing the scope I eagerly awaited its arrival. Took it out to my forest block and finally all the nocturnal animals were there to be seen. The vision is clear and the ir emitter works well also. The feild of view is somewhat narrow however this is made up for by the excellent magnification. I would recommend allowing the scope 5 minutes or so to warm up and reach optimum light enhancement. Battery use was fair with approx 5 - 6hrs use from a pair of lithium aa batteries. The best aspects of the scope are ease of use, and one unseen benefit was the hours of joy my children have had watching, wallabys, marsupial mice, owls and all sorts of wildlife.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big bang for your buck, October 31, 2011
This review is from: Yukon™ 4x50 mm Spirit™ Night Vision Monocular (Electronics)
The reason I give this unit five stars is the fact that for the price it works very well, I have used military grade and though this may be a generation or two behind them it works and it works well.
The biggest problem you might have with it is the glare from any lights in the area, I used mine first in a residential area with the normal street lights and house lights, and at about 50 yrds the little solar lawn lights cause a glare and are to bright to look at straight on, in a vacant field with 1/4 moon I could clearly see bushes and trees with definition and power poles were very bright from about 1/4-1/2 mile away, unfortunately even lights from the road and lot lights 2-3 miles away made it hard to see the field vey well, like trying to see the person shining a flashlight at you.
Focusing is great once you get the nack (about 2 mins playing around).
The IR is bright but causes the circular spotlight effect within 10-20 yrds but is amazing with catching eyes glowing from a distance, the IR also can be seen with the naked eye at the right angle so you are not invisible in that reguard.
All said and done, I would definately recommend this for hunting, camping, hiking and trecking around, I'm sure it would be ok for security except for the the lighting issues, in a large unlit area it would work perfect.

1.0 out of 5 stars Out of order after one day, September 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Yukon™ 4x50 mm Spirit™ Night Vision Monocular (Electronics)
After only a day, the unit developed a constant internal "clicking" sound and would produce a strobe-like effect in the eyepiece. Maybe I just got a defective one. Up until then I was very happy with it. I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about with the eyeglasses problem. I wear glasses and I just took them off and used the eyepiece focus function to adjust it to my eyesight, then you use the objective lens focus to adjust for distance. Other issues have already been mentioned - the lens cap is not tethered and would be easy to lose, and the storage pouch is way too small, the unit just barely fits in it but you practically have to use a shoehorn. If the unit had not developed this problem I would have given it four stars. Very nice performance considering the price. Sorry, but I have to review what I actually got. Unit was returned to Amazon.

I would recommend to allow the scope 2 - 3 minutes to warm up and reach optimum light enhancement then it is also easier to focus it and also recomend to take some extra batteries since this thing is a battery eater with approx 4 hrs use from a pair of rechargeable AA nickel batteries. I'll try with some higher amperage batteries to see how many ours I can have it working.

I'm somewhat satisfied with the product, I'll try it in next coming vacation (soon)and will post an update of this review.

This thing works better than expected. Some of the reviews state how it is not as good as the ones they used in Iraq and Afghanistan, and this is true. But remember people, this is Gen 1(Viet Nam era) night vision, not the Gen 4 currently used by our armed forces. If you want that type of quality, you'll be spending $3000.00 to $5000.00. For the price, this CAN NOT be beat. I recently used this in both low-light, and no-light situations. In low-light leave the cap on, it has a little hole to allow some light in. In no-light take the cap off and allow it to gather as much ambient light as possible. Focus works well and must be adjusted for different light conditions. Vision comes out clear and useable out to over 100 yards, and IR light adds clarity and definition to closer objects. This runs on AA batteries, so no need to find rare and obscure battery types. Light weight, portable, and comes with a nylon carry case with belt loop. I have nothing bad to say about this unit. As I said before, for the price, this can not be beat.

I am very happy with this Yukon, very practical, lightweight, functional, very satisfactory even without illuminator ir, I like very much to astronomical observations, try to look at the sky at night, an infinity of stars that appear to the naked eye can not see, not to mention the deep-sky objects, Andromeda, Orion etc. Council this product all excellent quality-price.
