Probably my all-time favorite Christmas album. A wonderful collection of traditional hymns and carols played by a piano soloist extraordinaire. Picture yourself sipping your favorite libation on a cold winter's night by a warm fire, in the company of a great piano player who's treating you to your all time favorites. The sound isn't "hard" jazz or new age; the lighter, "fun" carols, like Jingle Bells, have a playful, upbeat bounce; the older, more religious hymns (Silent Night, etc.) are played with reverence and sensitivity that would warm the Pope's heart. Great listening on its own or as background.

This is such a lively and fun holiday CD. Since it's just piano, it also (to me) sounds refreshingly crisp and clear after some of the over-produced holiday music. Great party background but also fun to just sit and listen to.

I first heard a piece from this CD on a classical radio station about 15 years ago and I've been looking for the CD since then. I'm thrilled to able to finally add this to my Christmas music collection. The style is a bit off the norm for Christmas music, so if you don't like stride piano you probably won't like this CD; but if you do like it, this is perfect! Very sensitive renditions of classic pieces.

I purchased this CD recently on a Prairie Home Companion cruise. I LOVE it and am playing it in my car in July! I can't wait until Christmas as I entertain the family on Christmas Eve and by that time everyone is tired/bored/annoyed with the continuous music piped into every conceivable venue from Halloween on. THIS is different and ..... well, I am listening to it in July, aren't I?

There is nothing better at Christmas than putting this CD on and letting it play - over & over! Stride piano is a favorite of mine & combine it with Butch Thompson = The Best!

I truly enjoy this CD, it's piano and that's all. The more mellow songs like silent night are very gently played and Midnight Clear is rather raucous! I agree with one of the other reviewers, it reminds me of sitting in a lonely bar with the piano player playing just for you while you sip a hot toddy.

Butch Thompson swings Christmas with great style, grace and joy. This is a high energy, swinging, enjoyable interpretation of Christmas favorites.

I have 6 CDs by Butch Thompson, and they're all great. But this one - Christmas music - stride piano - It just doesn't work! By the time some tracks were half finished, the melody was still a mystery. Very disappointing!
