Clint Walker and Barry Sullivan star in this explosive Western, set in the wild and lawless Yuma Territory of the 1800s. U.S. Marshall Dave Harmon (Walker) is appointed by the governor to bring order to the territory, known for running off any lawman who dares to bring the rowdies to heel. Upon his arrival in Yuma, he is immediately tested, becoming embroiled in a struggle with the powerful Arch King (Morgan Woodward) after shoting King's brother. This early 70's Western, an Aaron Spelling Production, stars 6'6" Clint Walker as the big, calm, new U.S. Marshall in the territory around Yuma. Like many western towns of the time, Yuma has been having it's troubles. As U.S. Marshall Dave Harmon comes into town, two members of a big ranching outfit are whooping it up with the stagecoach they stole in a fit of drunken revelry. Harmon has trouble with them and his day goes downhill from there.
The cast is excellent, and the plot is very well done, as were several of the westerns made during that general time. There are sub-plots which lend the central character depth and personality that some of the older westerns did not always achieve. And there's enough shoot-em-up to keep it exciting, although Harmon displays a calm control of each situation that many of us would envy today. Very good all-around entertainment, nothing in there the kids couldn't watch, but adults will like it, too...if they like westerns. I've watched this one several times--and will again.

Clint Walker is a lawmen...plays the part great...lots of other good actors and directed by ted post...a decent western to kill time...the storey is set in the wild and lawless Yuma Territory of the 1800's United States Marshal Dave Harmon(Walker) is appointed by the Govenor to bring order to the territory, known for running off any lawman who dares to bring the rowdies to heel. Upon his arrival in Yuma,he is immediately tested, becoming embroiled in a struggle with the powerful Arch King(Woodward) after shooting King's brother. It will take all of Marshal Harmon's grit and determination to stop the violence and bring justice to Yuma...Dvd quality is more like a vhs tape, not dvd but not bad,no extras, full screen...this review is for the dvd as shown...Timeless Media Group..love to know what the other copy's of Yuma are like, people should name the manufacture of the dvd they are reviewing.

A western typical of early seventies TV fodder but beefed up by the always welcome presence of Clint Walker. The man can do no wrong and after getting the !st series of Cheyenne and enjoying it I looked for more. This movie was it. Good all round action, not the best western around but with lots of good character actors and old Tucson as a backdrop well worth a look.Five stars because of Walker. Now how about Yellowstone Kelly and Gold of the Seven Saints?

Clint Walker goes back a long time. You gots ta like this big boys style. Yuma is a great movie, simply because of Clint, they don't make movies like these anymore. Trust me, you'll like the movie.

An easy way to pass a few hours - the best thing about the film is Clint Walker - his looks, his voice...his voice...A "formula" style western of its day - interesting to see John Kerr from "South Pacific" in a supporting role - would've been good to see more of him! A nice twist in the story.

This was an entertaining western for those who like the old fashioned kind without the Clint Eastwood blood and guts or the profanity-laced modern western. Definitely G-rated with Walker at his best as the Marshall of Yuma. I was, however, disappointed in the video quality, with both fuzziness in the picture and poor color. This in spite of the opening credits bragging about how careful they were to find high quality copies of the film. Oh well, Clint Walker was worth it!

This is one of my favorite western movies and was also one of my Dad's. Clint Walker plays a U.S. Marshall who comes to Yuma to clean up the town. Right off the bat, he has to kill (in self defense) the brother of the owner of a large trail herd headed toward the town and quickly gets blamed for the death of another brother. The interesting thing about this movie is Walker's calm easy-going way. There's no bluster and loud show of force here; he just does his job, quietly and well. There's also a lot of cultural diversity as he befriends a homeless Mexican boy and the local Reservation Indians who are being cheated, but learn to trust the new Sheriff and also tangles with the Army. A memorable scene occurs when he goes to the Fort to talk with the Army about some recent occurences. When a soldier refuses to wake his commanding officer, Walker handles things in his own quiet, humorous way. This was a good role for Clint Walker, who handled the part of the sheriff very well.

If you're a fan of westerns from the 1950's and '60's, you'll like the story. The problem is the print. If you plan on watching it on a relatively large screen, say 40 inches plus, you're in for an unpleasant experience. The transfer, probably from an old VHS tape, is poor and the result is a very "bleary" viewing experience. Save your money.
