5.0 out of 5 stars Clint on good form
A western typical of early seventies TV fodder but beefed up by the always welcome presence of Clint Walker. The man can do no wrong and after getting the !st series of Cheyenne and enjoying it I looked for more. This movie was it. Good all round action, not the best western around but with lots of good character actors and old Tucson as a backdrop well worth a look.Five...

Clint Walker is a lawmen...plays the part great...lots of other good actors and directed by ted post...a decent western to kill time...the storey is set in the wild and lawless Yuma Territory of the 1800's United States Marshal Dave Harmon(Walker) is appointed by the Govenor to bring order to the territory, known for running off any lawman who dares to bring the rowdies to heel. Upon his arrival in Yuma,he is immediately tested, becoming embroiled in a struggle with the powerful Arch King(Woodward) after shooting King's brother. It will take all of Marshal Harmon's grit and determination to stop the violence and bring justice to Yuma...Dvd quality is more like a vhs tape, not dvd but not bad,no extras, full screen...this review is for the dvd as shown...Timeless Media Group..love to know what the other copy's of Yuma are like, people should name the manufacture of the dvd they are reviewing.

Clint Walker goes back a long time. You gots ta like this big boys style. Yuma is a great movie, simply because of Clint, they don't make movies like these anymore. Trust me, you'll like the movie.

3.0 out of 5 stars Formula cool, February 17, 2007

An easy way to pass a few hours - the best thing about the film is Clint Walker - his looks, his voice...his voice...A "formula" style western of its day - interesting to see John Kerr from "South Pacific" in a supporting role - would've been good to see more of him! A nice twist in the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Clint Walker Western, January 21, 2010

This was an entertaining western for those who like the old fashioned kind without the Clint Eastwood blood and guts or the profanity-laced modern western. Definitely G-rated with Walker at his best as the Marshall of Yuma. I was, however, disappointed in the video quality, with both fuzziness in the picture and poor color. This in spite of the opening credits bragging about how careful they were to find high quality copies of the film. Oh well, Clint Walker was worth it!

YUMA is a solid little Western, given good production values, and a with solid cast. In addition to Clint Walker, also featured are Barry Sullivan and Edgar Buchanan. The plot, while prosaic, is still well fleshed out, and the surprize ending is nicely handled. Recommended.

If you're a fan of westerns from the 1950's and '60's, you'll like the story. The problem is the print. If you plan on watching it on a relatively large screen, say 40 inches plus, you're in for an unpleasant experience. The transfer, probably from an old VHS tape, is poor and the result is a very "bleary" viewing experience. Save your money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good western, but poor quality picture, November 24, 2010
This review is from: Yuma (DVD)
Enjoyed the western, good to see big Clint back in a similar role he played in the Cheyenne series. Be warned however the picture is very soft, lacking sharpness, best watched on a small screen tv. For Clint Walker fans purchase 'Yellowstone Kelly' now released on dvd which an excellent western with a good quality picture.

This is a good made for TV movie.
Not a high production movie but good.
Clint Walker is very good in this role, similar to his roles in the Cheyenne Series.
Worth watching.

I am a huge Clint Walker fan and I am in the process of building up all the movies that he made along with my John Wayne and other classic western collections. I had never even heard of this movie until I saw it on Amazon and it had very good reviews. I ordered it and was very pleased. I was tying to locate "Yellowstone Kelly" and "Night of the Grizly" but they are NOT to be found. I just recorded "Yellowstone Kelly" the other night from the Encore Western Channel onto my DVR to record onto my DVD recorder, so one more left. But, if you are a Clint Walker fan, as I have been since I was a kid" then you will like this one too!!!! Nick Donvito.
