4.0 out of 5 stars For Busy Moms and Not So Busy Adults! November 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Although I haven't tried any of the recipes thus far, they are child-friendly and can be made for an adult lunch. The ingredients are simple and should be easy to obtain in a regular supermarket. I just wished there were more recipes for the fall/winter months. More than half of the recipes are for the summer months. They are made without heat involved. Overall it is a good book for lunches prepared for children and/or any event which involves children.

Perfect for the working mom! When you have a busy schedule and children these recipes are perfect as they are easy and quick to make. I really enjoyed Amy Rogers' Vegan Cookbook as it had so many great recopies that can be prepared ahead of time and keep in the fridge or freezer so you can have a week worth of food made, so when you get home dinner is simple. I found this vegan cookbook to be a great addition to my cookbook collection as it's filled with health, delicious recopies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and nutritious! October 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Often, living animal-free means an endless round of quinoa, rice, and tofu. This cookbook, the latest of Amy Rogers' vegan cookbooks, is full of interesting, nutritious recipes. A few of the recipes are vegan versions of traditional favorites, like the Green Reuben and the Eggless Egg Salad. Some of them are updated Vietnamese classics, traditionally done without meat and now completely animal free. All of them are visually appealing and flavorful.

A number of the recipes are preparation-intensive, but can be prepared ahead-of-time and refrigerated or frozen for a quick, easy meal later. You may have to source a few of the ingredients, like Kala Namak salt, although most of them can be found at ethnic markets and specialty food merchants. The cooking instructions are clearly explained, as is how various foods react to refrigeration and storage.

The recipes that I've tried turned out very well- and even the non-Vegans in my life appreciated them! This book is definitely a great resource for recipes and techniques; I learned how to roast millet, much to the fascination of my family. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who wants to change up their diet with some appealing, interesting meals!

More About the Author

As a mother of a four year old daughter and eight year old son I treasure those special moments after they have bathed and they ask: "Mom, please read me the book about..."

Like most young children they enjoy their favorite story books, but they also have a great thirst for discovering new information about the world we live in. Their favorites have always been picture books, supplemented with a few interesting facts. Topics about animals and nature are always popular.

Although they see it as fun and not learning, reading these books to them has greatly increased their general knowledge.

To keep up with their never ending desire for more picture books, I started to compile my own collection. As a result of encouragement from family and friends I have started publishing them on Kindle.

I hope you and your young ones enjoy my picture books and would really appreciate a short review if you have the time.
