Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Finally, a boy band with some substance: Australia's Wiggles, a four-bloke outfit complete with an entourage of costumed characters, several videos, and their own TV show, ought to have no problem worming their way into the CD collections of 2- to 6-year-olds. Yummy Yummy, a 24-track album brimming with danceable, singable, and sometimes nonsensical songs, is largely about food, numbers, and animals. Most appealing about the group--Greg Page (lead vocalist and the Wiggle in yellow), Murray Cook (guitarist and red-shirted Wiggle), Anthony Field (another guitarist, but in blue), and Jeff Fatt (a purple-skivvied backing vocalist)--is its unabashed goofiness and pluck. In "Shake Your Sillies Out," for example, you get the feeling that, in a studio somewhere, these guys actually are shaking their sillies out, nodding their naughties out, clapping their crazies out, jumping their jiggles out, and wibbling their wobbles away. "Fruit Salad," "Hot Potato," and "Crunchy Munchy Honey Cakes" also are recipes for fun. But not to worry--"The Monkey Dance," "Walk," and "Come On Let's Jump" eliminate the threat of food-induced listener lethargy. Aside from the songs themselves, another yummy-yummy aspect of this album (and their Let's Wiggle) is its track lengths. While the "Numbers Joke" lasts only 11 seconds, the instrumental "The Chase," the record's longest number, weighs in at 4 minutes--no demands are being made on short attention spans here. --Tammy La Gorce

5.0 out of 5 stars The Wiggles are HOT, June 28, 2002
By Kwithyco "Super Cynic" (Portland, OR. United States) - See all my reviews
We're Wiggles fans from back when the now defunct FOX Family channel showed the Wiggles World TV show. And though at first the Wiggles seemed a bit "odd" I've grown to love and admire them. Oh, yeah, my girls like them too.
As a musician who hates most insipid children's music, I find the Wiggles' song-crafting refreshingly clever and pop-oriented - easy to listen to ad infinitum - and I find myself singing along. This CD in particular has many of our Wiggly favorites - who can find fault with Fruit Salad or Hot Potato?
And if you get a chance to see the Wiggles live, do so! These guys act as un-jaded, nice and enthusiastic as they come, and put on a truly memorable and enjoyable show for kids and their tired parents! And we met Murray Wiggle headed for Starbucks!
And get the videos - they are a must for you and your kids to truly appreciate the Wiggles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for adult ears too!, June 20, 2002
My 4-year-old son will not let us play anything in the car except Wiggles. And this particular CD, "Yummy Yummy," is his favorite. The songs on this disc are clear, crisp, and memorable. Focusing on food, such as "Hot Potato" and "Crunchy Munchy Honey Cakes"...

The Wiggles' sound can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The songs are melodic and catchy. The lyrics are straightforward, simple and sometimes very funny. Best of all, it doesn't take much of a stretch of imagination for adults to think they're listening to pop radio. That's why I don't mind when my son asks for The Wiggles. We can all enjoy it together (although he asks me not to sing along because "daddy's singing gives me ear owies."

5.0 out of 5 stars Wiggling Through Traffic!, October 10, 2000
By A Customer
My 20 month old can't get enough of The Wiggles! We have the video, so when she recognized the songs playing in the car, she was dancing away in her car seat! The Wiggles sing songs with simple melodies and words, so it became real easy for my little girl to learn how to sing along. I believe it actually helped improved her talking skills! We commute an hour to get home, so this CD definitely helps to keep her busy. I highly recommend this to any parent that need a little help keeping their little ones occupied during traffic! Just pop the CD in and watch them sing, sing, and SING !!!! You'll find yourself singing, too ! I do!!!
