Gorgeous arias, with beautiful melodies and incredible cascades of notes. OK, the singer has some troubles with some high notes but even so I had the best of funs listening to this CD.

Yvonne Kenny, neste CD, está simplesmente perfeita. Suas interpretações de Meyerbeer e Donizetti são ótimas, mas sua Gabriella di Vergi é surpreendente. Cantando uma ópera que à sua estréia foi um fracasso, ela não só a capacita a voltar ao repertório como realiza uma interpretação definitiva da personagem (com uma " pathos" indescritível);e que nos faz sonhar com uma interpretação sua de Lucia Di Lammermoor.

I cannot imagine a more sublime, a more gorgeous, a more appealing, a more touching, a more perfectly beautiful, 'attempt' at opera. A triumph and a delight. Brava, Yvonne mia.

Yvonne Kenny's silvery lyric soprano voice has delighted opera-goers for years. It's a lovely voice indeed, and as well as she sings Handel, I have always thought she is especially superb in the bel canto repertoire.

And it's no surprise that this recording is exquisite. The well-chosen scenas and arias showcase Ms Kenny beautifully, from sweetly melodic to melodramatic and deliciously macabre. There is such an approachability in Yvonne Kenny's singing that it is astonishing anyone could fail to be enchanted.

This is a recording that will bear repeated playing. There are no anachronistic slides and scoops here - just beautiful, beautiful singing, with wonderfully executed coloratura and exquisitely sustained lyrical lines.

This is Yvonne Kenny at her best.

I can't think of a more painful attempt at opera.
