Book Description

Llewellyn's Golden Dawn Series October 8, 1995
Two of the Golden Dawn's highest initiates reveal what actually happens when one is initiated into the Golden Dawn's second grade ceremony: the Zelator Ritual. Unlike any other book written on the Golden Dawn, Z-5 presents in enormous detail all the higher explanations of this ceremony in one package. Also read first-hand experiences of others who have undergone the ritual.

4.0 out of 5 stars More depth than Regardie's book, July 5, 2004
This review is from: Z-5, Secret Teachings of the Golden Dawn: Book II, The Zelator Ritual 1=10 (Llewellyn's Golden Dawn Series) (Bk.2) (Paperback)
This is a good book for those interested in studying the Golden Dawn rituals. What I like about it is that it goes into far more details about the Zelator 1=10 ritual than what was published in Israel Regardie's version. It has more of the lectures too, which is valuable. This book talks somewhat at length at how the Zelator ritual was designed to "ground" the aura of the initiate with Earth energies.

Contrary to one reviewer's comments, I think it is indeed relevant when Zalewski talks about how Jack Taylor (former Hierophant of the Whare Ra Lodge) was able to transmit subtle energies to the candidate, so that they could literally feel Earth energies, for instance, in a manner resembling the Indian concept of Shaktipat. Unfortunately, because of the nature of the Golden Dawn Rituals, it took a very rare form of initiate to make it work ... one who really understood the Kabbalah ... and its practical side. The descriptions of Taylor's work in the Whare Ra Lodge is an example of what the Golden Dawn rituals can accomplish in the hands of a true Master-Adept. Unfortunately that is all too rare, these days, as most seem to be motivated by ego-inflation.

It's interesting too to compare the (published) Golden Dawn rituals with the (unpublished) rituals of the AMORC, for example. The Golden Dawn was far more kabbalistic in the earlier degrees ... perhaps before the initiate really understands the Kabbalah, in many instances.

At any rate, I do recommend this book as well as that of Lon Milo DuQuette's books with regard to the Golden Dawn/Thelemic systems.

Once you learn these secrets you can with divine powers actually perform magic in your head. You are better off smoking some weed and pretending you are magic. Or just watch dinner for schmuks

Pat Zaleswki is quite over-rated. Whare-Ra was long closed by the time he developed an interest in GD simply by reading the Regardie book. The man hasn't had an original idea in his life. He writes irrelevancies: nonsense such as, "Jack Taylor in 1957 changed such and such in the 6=5" without any indication as to why this is important. His ex-wife's book on Enochian chess, despite some editorial mistakes in the boards, is very much worth reading. Hers is by far the better mind of the two Zaleswkis.
