Knitting help,

This is the best knitting help book I have found yet. I began knitting as a little girl but set my needles aside for awhile. Now with four young grandchildren the needles are very busy once again, but there are some things I have forgotten or techniques that I felt I needed to improve. This book was the answer for both. In fact, I have recommended it to others and have purchased additional copies for gifts.

Knitting encylopedia,
This review is from: A-Z of Knitting: The Ultimate Guide for the Beginner to Advanced Knitter (Spiral-bound)
This book came highly recommended from a yarn store owner. I am a beginner but want to make some specific items. This is not a book of patterns, but of stitches. So it is a good reference book for any pattern.

I needed a book on knitting to refresh my memory and someone recommended this one to me. Not only is this book easy to read, but the book provides great pictures. The pictures are really important to me because I am a visual learner. If you are new to knitting you will find this book very helpful as you build your skills.

This is an excellent book to add to your knitting library! Not only does it cover the basics (with photos rather than sketches), but it covers higher end techniques that my other basic knitting resource books do not cover. The team that wrote this book did a great job. Well done!

A-Z is the knitter's best friend. Pictures and text give needed help in a clear and concise way. I'm not an expert knitter - I just know enough to be dangerous! This book has helped me so much when I got in a little over my head.

A HUGE help to a new knitter!,

As a new knitter, I've managed to accumulate several "beginner" books/booklets, but this is by far the one I go back to, time and again! I like how it shows several cast-ons, step by step, and tells you which one will have give what type of edge. I recently started my first pair of socks and the cast-on within the pattern was too confusing for me, so I went to this and learned the "Thumb Cast On: English Style" which is perfect for a sock, and was very simple with this book to go by. It was what the pattern was trying to explain! And this book really has so much great information from these cast ons to how to do surface embroidery on knitting ~ something I many never do but looks so beautiful I may have to try it just once! It's very easy to read, has the hidden spiral bound form, full color pictures and step by step easy to understand instructions and pictures to go with them. I highy recommend, for knitters of all levels, this book. You can find any stich you need here and much more.

Best Knitting Encyclopedia!,

This review is from: A-Z of Knitting: The Ultimate Guide for the Beginner to Advanced Knitter (Spiral-bound)
I have purchased MANY knitting encyclopedias and guides, and this is by far the best one I've seen. I find the photos especially helpful, and it touches on entrelac, mitered squares, short rowing, intarsia, fair isle, etc in a way that is easy enough for a relatively new knitter to follow along with. I really like that it has all the different cast-on methods. My goodness! There's so much in here. It truly is the only guide a knitter will ever need. The only thing I wish it had was a nice stitch dictionary in the back. Anyone can learn to knit with this guide and most importanly, anyone who is now knitting can advance and advance as far as he/she wants to go!

Must have reference book!,

This review is from: A-Z of Knitting: The Ultimate Guide for the Beginner to Advanced Knitter (Spiral-bound)
This is a must have book for knitters. I'm not much of a knitter, but I do occasionally knit up a quick scarf or poncho. I found this to be a great reference book for me. I liked the clear instructions as well as the detailed photos of each step in the process. This book includes beginning knitting stitches and information about needles, yarn and gauge. Instructions for adding yarn, increasing and decreasing, as well as shaping a piece are given. I liked the fact that information was also given for fixing mistakes - these do sometimes happen! More advanced instructions for aran knitting, adding beads to your knitting and finishing off you project are also provided.
If you only purchase one reference book about knitting, this should be it. |
