I used these as a replacement for the wood screws in my Fender Strat
The new Custom Shop fender strats are using these inserts in the neck as a replacement to the 1¾" wood screws. By using this method, your neck mounts much more secure and you will immediately notice a huge increase in tone and sustain. I don't recommend this for a classic or collectible strat as this will devalue your instrument. Also since you will have to bore the...

VERY poor external threading in hardwood
Oak - specifically. Looked like a good idea, turned out to be HORRIBLE in excecution. No matter what one does, these will NOT self thread and remain straight. PLAN on tapping your hole in hardwood - if you can even find a tap with this external thread size.

The new Custom Shop fender strats are using these inserts in the neck as a replacement to the 1¾" wood screws. By using this method, your neck mounts much more secure and you will immediately notice a huge increase in tone and sustain. I don't recommend this for a classic or collectible strat as this will devalue your instrument. Also since you will have to bore the regular 3/32" inch holes larger to a ¼" hole to install these it not a reversible process. You can use the Brass inserts instead if you like, But I chose the stainless for strength and tone. You can Google this process and read many reviews on this if you like. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me some questions if you would like some information about this.
