I wish I did some research before buying this desk. At the time I really needed a desk for a computer I just built so I went to staples and bought it on a whim. Now I regret it. The "wood" part seems to be made out of MDF and the edges are chipped. This desk is also way too high to use a mouse and keyboard. I measured 31" high and my shoulders hurt so much, but it's the only thing I got. My OCD is also kicking in... I placed this desk against a wall with windows and whenever the line shines it I can see all the imperfections of the glass, I see streaks, smudges, a ton of lines(scratches) and dust, even after I clean this desk I still see them and I clean it again. I wish there was a way to trade this thing for a Z line Claremont.

Update (November 18th, 2014):
Just a quick update on this desk, I'm still enjoying it immensely! It has held up very well through two moves, once long distance with professional movers, the other local with just me and family moving things. The desk was not disassembled either time and I was expecting it to not survive the move well, but there were no problems.

Original Review (February 5, 2012):
Abstract:
I spent about $170 on this desk, for the price, the build quality and assembly exceeded my expectations. The keyboard tray is only large enough to hold a normal keyboard nothing else, the bottom shelf on the "side desk" will hold two PCs, the monitor stand barely holds a single monitor (the wood fiberboard shelf is garbage, the welded metal Cs are sturdy) and the instructions are detailed and well communicated. Worth the money, I would buy another.

Build:
The desk arrives broken down to its basic elements, nothing is preassembled, so if you are not looking forward to a bit of construction look elsewhere. That being said the instructions are detailed and nearly flawless (I believe the second step omits which direction two of the piece should be assembled; when I'm near the instructions I'll edit with specifics). The hardware is broken down into baggies with letters that are referenced in the instructions; I want to meet these people and thank them for the effort on their end to make this an easy assembly. The instructions claimed an exact 55 minutes for assembly, is this a bit of humor in an instruction manual? While I didn't sit down with a stop watch, it seems a reasonable estimate, though I'd leave a full 2 hours for unpacking, assembly and cleanup.

We bought it for home office and it is perfect - classy office look that still looks "homey". Assembly instructions are clear, assembly itself was fast and easy. Desk seems very well made, good quality materials, design, construction.

I wont give it a 5 but more of 4.5. Reason was the way the directions don't warn you which holes go where on the bottom. Had to take the bottom bar off.
Other then that so far day one and im loving it! All my stuff and more in one place. I love it being long and slim.

Just like it looks online. Nice-looking dark wood. If you want to get an idea how it looks, go to Staples-- they sell a different version with lighter wood but I prefer this dark wood. The Staples version doesn't have the computer monitor stand either. We're currently using the monitor stand but will be taking it down as there is a bulge in the middle due to the monitor's weight-- they table looks just fine without it anyway.

Would have been even better if it had some file drawers, but that may have taken away from the overall open look. Would definitely buy it again.

Worth every penny and then some. Very easy to put together, feels very sturdy and plenty of room. Looks better then pictured

Pros:
Good design reduces flex during use.
Engineered to allow the removal of the "extension" on the left side. This is handy for those in cramped quarters who only want the main part of the desk.
UPS did their best to destroy this package on the way over, but the desk held firm. (Great packing)
Some components are made of actual wood!
Some components are made of actual steel!
Some components are made of actual glass!

Cons:
Some components are made of fiber-board. (flimsy Keyboard tray and monitor stand) This warranted minus one star.
Directions are a little iffy at first until you get used to the repetitiveness of the design.
One bad thing about the packing, I could only take it out of the box in pieces no bigger than a dime (thanks UPS) and when I was done my room looked like a snowstorm passed through.
The desk is sturdy enough during use, but moving it will probably require two people to reduce twisting. (When the side extension is removed, you can grip the desk by the wood braces at the top of the "legs" and this solves this problem.

Instructions were lacking in which direction to place several of the pieces, the must annoying thing is the screws that are included to attach the keyboard slides to the upper frame and the cross brace to the rear frame are wood screws and have too small of a wire size to grip into the the holes punched into the tubes. Either they need to supply different screws or ream out the holes slightly to allow for the use of the screws supplied. Other than that the desk is well designed and is very functional.
