5.0 out of 5 stars Agricola Expansion - Added Complexity
My wife, friends, and I love Agricola, so we were pretty psyched about the expansion. It serves to add a bit more complexity to the game, with additional things to manage and ways of winning. We've played with the expansion about half a dozen times, and I would recommend it for those who have played Agricola enough times to have seen most of the occupation / improvement...

3.0 out of 5 stars Adds a new dimension to the game, but little value.
If you are already bored with trying to build your farm and feed your family and have explored all the various occupations and minor/major cards then this is a good expansion. Having to heat your house is great added challenge if you have a group of master Agricola players, but new players or occasional players are not going to need this expansion to enjoy Agricola. Great...

My wife, friends, and I love Agricola, so we were pretty psyched about the expansion. It serves to add a bit more complexity to the game, with additional things to manage and ways of winning. We've played with the expansion about half a dozen times, and I would recommend it for those who have played Agricola enough times to have seen most of the occupation / improvement cards, and are hankering for something new. For players new to Agricola, I would hold off on buying this expansion. The game is pretty complex as it is, and the expansion might be too much to keep track of at first. Here is a general summary of the pros and cons as I see them:

Pros: Huge additions to game play which really make the game fresh and exciting (new animals, new tiles for your farmland, new upkeep requirements, and a slew of new occupations / improvements. Adding new ways to gain points also means there are a lot of new strategies to pursue in order to win.

Cons: Added complexity could be confusing to new players. As with the original game, instructions aren't super-clear and require some learn-by-playing. Interestingly, a lot of the new major improvements don't seem to be very useful in the game (we haven't used a single one).

5.0 out of 5 stars Fixes flaws in an already great game., August 31, 2010

Agricola is an awesome game, but it suffers from a few significant flaws. The largest of these is that adding family members is so much more important than any other task that it becomes the sole focus of the early game. This was supposed to balanced by the requirement for additional food, but this is really a trivial issue for an experiences player.

Farmers on the Moore reduces this flaw with the addition of special actions. These are actions that can be taken without using your family members, which helps narrow the action deficit. Especially since the only way to use one that's already been taken is by spending food, something that smaller families will have in excess.

Other additions like forests, new improvements (major and minor), and the requirement to heat your home in winter also help to revitalize the game.

Just when we thought we finally mastered Agricola, we added on this expansion pack. The creators did a great job thinking everything through to make sure it all works out. With all the new additions, don't expect your farm life to be as productive as it before. Now the time really goes by fast, and there just never seems to be enough turns to do everything you want to do... and that is what makes for such an intriguing game. The original Agricola game was pretty challenging for us to learn since we were new to all the lingo. Now that we're familiar with the game, the expansion pack was very easy to learn and add on.

Just when you thought Agricola couldn't be more complicated, along comes Farmers of the Moor! In this addition, you will be adding turns to every round. The cool thing is that this can be an "evener". Even if you are playing last in a round, you can still choose some nice options to help you. This helps "even" out the play so that the first players don't have as much advantage. I like that. This game adds complexity: you will now need to heat your home in addition to feeding your family. You will also have to strategize how to clear your farm of trees and moors. I like the addition of horses. You can acquire horses that are worth one point each and there is no upper limit to how many points you can score with them. They have also added some very cool major improvements and made upgrading your home to clay or stone much more appealing.

This expansion adds about 30 minutes per player, so it isn't for the faint of heart. But I love it!

Great to get as a gift, but I wouldn't buy it again having played it a few times. It was just OK.

I really like the Agricola base game. Some people find it too much complicated, but I like that.

This expansion adds even more complicated game mechanics.
Your mind is going to be really concentrated in order to achieve a good punctuation. If you like that kind of feature, the I recommend you this product, otherwise search something else.

Love to play board games with friends and family. Told of this game by our good friends. A little hard to learn by yourself - but once you play a couple of times with someone familiar it is fun.

Adds complexity to an already complex game, but if you like the game, you like complexity. Visually, it's a fun add on, and it certainly mixes up the game play
