5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, extremely addictive card game.
No Thanks!

Cards are numbered 3-35, you can take a card that is flipped up or pass by playing a chip. Any cards in a sequence you take score only the smallest in the sequence. Any chips you have deduct one from your score. When all cards are played the one with the lowest points wins.

3.0 out of 5 stars No, Thanks
Delivered quickly, which was nice. Three of us played it - one liked it, the other two didn't. A bit too simple seeming, perhaps, for folks who like lots of complexity and give-and-take in their games. Our two other Z-Man games - Sabateur and Pandemic - are huge hits, so we don't feel we can complain - but I don't think this one will see much use.

We play this game at least once peer week at lunch hour. We play with up to 8 or 9 people even though the directions say to play with fiewer. We just use poker chips for the extra players.

The game is very easy to learn and takes a while to master. My favorite part about this game is how much interaction there is with other players. Your choices affect others and a big part of the game is predicting what other players will do and trying to guess how far you can "push it". There is a good mix of risk/reward, strategy and luck.

No Thanks is small enough to fit in your pocket, it can be taught in 5 minutes amd played in as little as 15 minutes.
No Thanks is a game just about everyone will like a great deal from the first play. I sometimes will carry this game around with me if I think I may end up sitting around with a few people waiting on someone or something. It can make the wait a great deal of fun. This game is rated very high on the gaming sites as a "filler game". It is very popular and highly recognized among gamers.

You can't go wrong with this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple Counting/Risk Game, good filler, quick fun, January 7, 2011

I got this with during my most recent Birthday Cash Spree. I'd played it once years ago and remembered it as a simple game of counting and taking chips, and that's exactly what it is.

This is not a heavy game, but the idea is very simple and quick to explain. I've been able to teach this to my Game Group and get a game in while other games were being set up.

The idea behind the game is that there are X number of cards in a stack(you remove 9 before the game starts to keep the game random)and every player has a small pile of chips in front of them. At the beginning of the game you turn over the top card from the stack and have to decide if you're going to take the card or pass. You don't want cards, cards are points, but you do want chips because chips are worth negative points. If you pass you have to put a chip on the card and say "No Thanks!" and it goes to the next player who has the same decision and it goes around until someone decides that the chips are worth the risk. The clever part of this game is what happens next: If you have two or more cards in consecutive order you get to count ONLY the lowest card at the end of the game, so if you have 19 and 21 you've got 40 points, but if you can pick up that 20 card your score suddenly drops to 19 points. If you don't have any chips you can't pass and have to take the card.

And that's the entire game, you go through the stack of cards until all have been played. It's simple(what other game can be explained in a single paragraph?) and it's fast. There isn't enough chance to really give anyone analysis paralysis and it's surprisingly fun for a game that is simply about putting chips on cards.

For the low price this is one of my favorite games. It's small and portable, it's quick and it's easy enough to play that you can still have a good conversation while playing. This is definitely not a complex game that should be the center of a Game Night, but it is a really easy to teach game that is great as a warm up before more complex games.

The first time I played this a 5 year old was playing with us and she did just as well as the rest of us. I don't know if that's because she's particularly good at this or if it's because it's such a simple game to understand, but if a 5 year old can grasp the complexities of the game anyone can.

I only bought this products because of the reviews. It way exceeded my expectations! I played it with some nieces and nephews and it was such a big hit that my sister-in-law went out and bought it too. Educational wise, It is really good for exercising your math skills - it is simple addition and subtraction so no big deal. Would recommend!

We played this game with my brother over the holidays. It took a round or two to get the strategy down, but after that we couldn't stop playing. Any time there was a free moment we would grab people to play a few rounds--it only takes a few minutes so you don't have to have a big chunk of time, and yet you can play again and again. I couldn't believe that such a simple, inexpensive game could be so much fun. We can't wait for ours to arrive!

This game is a classic. The basic concept - either take the card (along with the chips on it) or put a chip on it yourself - is simple, but the random removal of some cards keeps you guessing as you are trying to make a sequence of numbers. No 2 games are alike. It is easy to learn, and easy to teach. It is perfect for those who are looking for something that will only take a few minutes . . . but most people can't stop at just one: they want to play again.

No Thanks! is a fantastic game and has been reviewed by other people here on Amazon. However, as of today (early December 2010), the prices here by Amazon marketplace sellers are astronomical - easily twice as much as I originally paid this summer. I realise that people are shopping for Christmas, but these prices are way, way too high! Shop around and find a better deal!
