Kodak calls this camera 14 mega pixels but it is actually 14.2+ mega pixels. Some less scrupulous manufacturers would call it 14.75 mega pixels because of the CCD used, not the actual image area. I bought this camera to replace my Kodak Z1285 12 mega pixel camera, mainly because Kodak eliminated just about every complaint that I had about the Z1285 with the Z1485. These two cameras look similar and seem to use the same 5x optical "zoom" lens, although the lens has different names on the two cameras. 5x "zoom" is about as far as you want to go on a camera that doesn't have a true zoom lens and still have a lens of acceptable overall quality (a true zoom lens maintains the same aperature throughout the zoom range instead of increasing the aperature number as the lens "zooms" {in general, the higher the maximum [smallest number] aperature is the less desireable the lens is}). I have bought wide angle/"macro" and teleconverter magnetic mount lens through Amazon.com for the Z1485 but they do not work well. I don't at all understand why the Kodak Z1485 is selling for so much less than Nikon, Pentax, Canon, Olympus, Sony Camera Division (formerly Minolta) and other cameras that seem to be either no better than it or inferior to it. The Z1485 does need a much better tripod socket, though. Advanced users will want to download the Z1485 Extended Users Manual from Kodak.com - other users don't need it. The past year, I have been searching for the perfect camera and I can finally say that I am done buying and returning cameras. I have purchased so many digital cameras and gave them to my daughter if I wasn't able to return or sell them. I love all the features on this high tech camera and it meets all my needs. I don't have to be an expert on taking pictures, because the camera does everything for you with the smart capture features and it automatically detects the right lighting mode for you. I also love all the extra features that come on this camera. I won't be buying another camera for a long time. The pictures are very nice. The only complaint that I have about this camera is that it is very bulky and I wish that it was one of the slimmer models, because I like to carry my camera every where I go and it's always in my purse, but other than that, I am very satisfied.

This camera was WAY more than I expected. I read the negative comments about the bulkiness and the battery drain. I almost did not buy this camera because of this. I want to let all of you know that you will NOT be disappointed in this camera. The pictures look like they were taken by a professional. I bought the battery charger and never even used it on our trip. We took about 150 photos and made three short videos before the battery low symbol even popped up. One thing I did like about the camera is the auto power off to save your battery. I read that it was bulky and would not fit in someone's purse. If you carry a wallet sized purse, then you may have a problem. My husband kept it in a fannie pack with sun screen, bug spray, passports, keys, etc, and still had plenty of room. The base of the camera is the size of a pack of cigarettes and the handgrip and lens stick out about 1/4" further. It is not big at all. The color is so pretty too! This is the most bang for your buck and you will be very pleased with it. I LOVE MY EASYSHARE!

The Z1485 is a great valued camera with rich colors and detail as well as very good black and white. Light weight and fits in a pocket. The 14MP still pictures are excellent, the HD video has good color. The image stabilization works well for preventing hand held still camera shake. Shope around on ebay for value deal.

I have always liked kodak`s quality of picture's colors. The camera itself is very very good. I picked the pink, to satisfy my girls desire, but this color fades and scratches really fast. does not look nice now but is one of the best digital cameras I have had. The only thing, everybody mentions it and is true: the only battery: the kodak (not generic, not radio shack) KODAK clic battery recommended. Lasts about a week of medium use, and recharges fast. DO NOT WASTE your money in other. and the charger must be adequate for that battery. not all chargers even fixing this battery charge them good. But i'd buy this camera again if lost it, so it means i am happy with it.

I'm not a camera expert, but I have owned several digital cameras. I had a C model previous to this one and used it for a few years with no problems. It took beautiful pictures and the zoom features were exceptional. The battery in this model so far has held up much better. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

The company shipped it very quickly - the shipping packaging was not the best but the camera was new in the box.

I got this camera brand new in the unopened box in December 09 as a gift. and two months later the screen and pictures were purple. I got the receipt for the camera which indicate that the camera was purchased in June 08. I have been calling the Kodak technical support line since March of 2009, without any success. I hold the line several times for between 20 or 30 minutes without an answer and then I hang up. A few weeks ago I decided to select the Kodak sales line instead of the technical support line. Within 5 seconds an agent answered. The agent transferred the call to an agent in the technical support department who informed me that the camera was now out of warranty and that I would have to pay at least $80 to fix it at a discount. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the agent told me the supervisor would tell me the same thing. Conspiracy? Sure enough when I spoke to the supervisor he told me exactly what the agent told me. I have been waiting for a call back from a manager since December 21, which I am told would have happened within 24-48 hours.

I sent this camera back 4 times to Kodak and it should have been replaced but instead, they just kept telling me it was the batteries. When I would get it back and it still would not cut on after it being in the repair shop, I was really upset with the customer service. Of course they kept it several wks the last time which was right at the end of my warranty so it could not be sent back when it came back nonfunctional the last time. I was very upset with this kind of customer service and will NEVER buy another Kodak product again. I could have bought a new camera for what I spent in batteries the first year I had the camera. I now have a Sony and love it. Sorry Kodak but when a customer is not happy with the camera, make it work at least when you get one in the shop nonfunctional. The look is very nice but when it won't cut on, how do you take pics. If you were lucky, it would power on for a few seconds and right when you get ready to snap the photo, it cuts off. Hated that camera.

Kodak makes nice inexpensive digital cameras that work well. I have had several Kodak cameras in the past and have always been really happy. The only bad thing about this camera is that it is made in China. However, what is not these days?

Not only is the camera a delight for my granddaughter, we received it timely, in excellent shape, for her birthday.
