Product Description

Your search for an Apple iPad case, skin, or cover is now over. ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD is an exceptionally clear and virtually indestructible film that will protect your Apple iPad from unsightly scratches. This exclusive, patented film - with nano-memory technology - covers and shields your device, keeping it as pristine as the day you took it out of the box. The precision pre-cut invisibleSHIELD applies directly to your Apple iPad providing the toughest, most durable protection you will find. The invisibleSHIELD has its origins in the military, where it was used to protect high-speed helicopter blades from dust, dirt and debris. Now you can use that same powerful technology to protect your Apple iPad. The invisibleSHIELD is only .2 millimeters thick making it the slimmest Apple iPad skin or Apple iPad cover of its kind. It is so tough that Zagg backs it with a lifetime guarantee. So, if it ever does wear or scratch, they will replace it for free, for the life of your device. And if you ever need to remove the invisibleSHIELD, no problem; it comes off clean and leaves no sticky residue.

I read the instructions CAREFULLY.

The sticky film on the screen cover is so thick, even when using their 'spray protectant' it leaves finger prints on the screen when you apply it to the iPad.

Then after putting it on--yes it's a pain, trying to get out the bubbles..again..hard, but then it really does what it says.

As a longtime user of ZAGG InvisibleSHIELD products, I have to admit that I was a bit uneasy ordering this (expensive) screen shield for my new iPad 2. I have used the InvisibleSHIELD product on 3 iPhones, a Blackberry, 2 Nintendo DS consoles, and a Kindle. I've always found them to fit well, so I was surprised to read about the fit problems in the reviews on this site. I have, in the past, had some installation issues, but I know that was things I did wrong (e.g., visible dust under shield after install. But based on the reviews here, I worried about whether the install would be harder given the size of the shield for the iPad. So, I was a bit concerned ... bad fit and hard install ... would I regret this purchase?

In a word, NO! The fit is PERFECT, and my install was flawless. In fact, this was probably one of the easier installs I did of an InvisibleSHIELD. So here are my recommendations to make it work (and NO, I don't work for Zagg ... I just felt like I needed to post this LONG review to help out):

1) FIRST ... note that you really, really, want to get these shields on the screen the right way the first time. You can lift off and try again, but I've found that the more you do, the more you stand to screw things up.

2) Fully clean the iPad's screen with a soft cloth. Be sure there are no big marks or dust bunnies on it. Then, clean off any remaining dust particles with pressurized canned air. When you have it perfectly clean, and ONLY then, move to the next step.

3) Unpack everything ... the shield (but don't take the adhesive back off the shield yet), the squeegee, the fluid, and put it out on your work space.

4) WASH YOUR HANDS very, very well.

I purchased two of these for my iPad and installed one yesterday. Actually, I'll rephrase, I destroyed one and successfully installed another. While it does seem that it would provide ample protection from knicks, scratches and any other assorted horrors that could be inflicted upon my new iPad's screen, getting this guy on is a pain. Let me sum it up for you: this is a 9 inch by 7 inch sticker that you apply to the face of your iPad......wet. Now, if that sounds like something that would be easy to do, well then have at it. I destroyed one. Reapplied the second about 4 times before I got it on without anything being caught underneath it. Be realistic: do you have pets? kids? dust? If so, you will get something under this guy. Be ready to spend a LONG time getting the bubbles out, although they will come out.

Once you let it sit for a day, it will work some smaller imperfections out and is quite nice. Very clear. I haven't noticed any reduction in screen sensitivity on mine. So once applied, it is quite a nice shield. Haven't put it to the test from a protection standpoint yet, and hope that I don't.

But I would have strangled the designer of this thing yesterday, and then gone after their family. That frustrated.

Realistically, any screen protector for the ipad is going to be rough to put on. It's big. However add that it was delivered rolled-up (so it had a tendency to try and re-roll), it is applied wet, and really likes to stick to itself, I have to imagine it is one of the more difficult options to apply available.

As with many have encountered, Zagg invisibleSHIELD for iPad is one piece of rolled up, highly tacky film that tends to stick to itself or any smooth surface. The trick to unrolling the film and application will be described here to help all of you that are ready for some challenging project. Note to self: if you are one of those folks that do not have the dexterity and patience when you are much younger with gluing plastic or assembling your own battle ship, this may be your greatest challenge ever ;)

The iPad shield by zagg comes in a rolled form so here's what you need to do to apply it with minimal hassle.
Pre-requisite
- Create a negative air flow to minimize any dust, debries, fur or lint that may land on the surface of the iPad and the film by turning your kitchen range hood or air cleaner with the exhaust nozzle away from the area you are working on.
- Wear a comfortable clothes or not wear any /minimal clothing to minimize any lint that may be released by your clothes.
- have a lint free microfibre cloth handy to wipe your soaked iPad.
- sun glasses cleaning cloth made of polyester to clean your iPod surface prior to application

Steps:
1. Remove all zagg packaging leaving only the film with it's backing intact. Do not peel off
2. Wash your hand thoroughly with soap and dry off using a ling free microfibre towel
3. Wear a shower cap if necessary and don't scratch yourself since your skin flakes will ruin the project
4. Clean your iPad screen by slightly dampening the sunglasses cleaning cloth with water making sure any oil and smudges are cleaned off.
5. Spray both of your fingers with the invisible shield liquid.
