These comments are about my use of the product with an iPad. The product was a little tricky to install. The adhesive back is quite adhesive ... this is like static cling material with an adhesive back. I found that more liquid spray, that came with the product, is better than less liquid when installing the product. It took a few tries to get it properly in place on the iPad, but I got it in-place. I tried it for a few days, but have now removed it. There is a slight visual distortion when the material is applied. I liken this distortion to what one may observe with a clear bra applied to a car. Also, there was some reduced touch sensitivity. It seemed to take slightly more finger pressure to operate the iPad. I think the product does protect the glass, but the visual distortion and reduced touch sensitivity led me to remove it.

It is a personal preference how to protect your electronics. I wanted something to protect but not obscure my iPad. Yes all invisible shields can be tricky to apply but I found this larger one (larger than my ipod & iphone shields) surprisingly easier to install than I feared. Do follow the other reviewers suggestions and make sure to wash hands and keep them moist throughout the process.

That said, once applied, the shield keeps fingerprints to a minimum, makes the back grippier and easier to handle plus cuts down on glare. So far I enjoy using the iPad more with the shield than I did without it. I can hold it up by placing one hand on the back (it sort of sticks to your hand) which is very cool.

You might find after a long period of use that the edges become dust magnets and the shield itself no longer looks its best. If so, Zagg offers a lifetime replacement--something I've taken advantage of in the past.

Finally, if you are in the San Jose CA area there is a cart at Valley Fair where they'll install them for you for a nominal charge.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible customer service from Zagg.. Warranty worthless, December 9, 2010
This review is from: ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for Apple iPad (Full Body) (Personal Computers)
I purchased this protector and initially loved it.
I really like the feel of it and it was decent to install. Had no bubbles and was perfect for about a month.
Then the edges began to peel up and gunk got underneath and began to look terrible.
So I called customer service. They sent me a new one, and I had to send old one back to them. I thought about sending it with tracking, but since I am in Canada, with tracking it would cost [...] to send. So I sent it express, but without tracking (still cost [...]).
Zagg then claimed it never arrived and charged me for the "free" replacement.
So I have bought it twice and the [...] shipping. Plus the replacement did the same thing, although it did last slightly longer, before becoming trash.
Since this experience, I talked to a friend who bought the protector for a Iphone 3g, he had exact same issue. He sent his replacement back without tracking and sure enough it mysteriously never made it either.
So basically, it will work great for a month or two. Then either ship it back with tracking or else just go buy a new one, as they will charge you again.
Hope this long ramble helps.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't use the ZAGG skin with an Apple iPad Case!, August 11, 2010

I wanted to protect my new iPad, so I purchased a ZAGGskin and Apple iPad Case. Thinking that 2 layers of protection was better than one, I installed the skin and put the iPad in the case. After a few weeks, I decided to take the iPad out and clean it. It was then that I noticed that a blue color was leeching from the case onto the ZAGGskin. The blue color can be seen in the middle of the ZAGGskin and around the edges. I contacted ZAGG and got the following,

"I am sorry to hear that your ZAGGskin is discoloring. The ZAGGskin, with the invisibleSHIELD on top is porous and can absorb colors, and if the case you were using is blue, then that is what may have happened. I am sorry to say that the ZAGGskin only has a 45 day money back guarantee and it has been over 45 days. I am afraid that is why you are not able to order a replacement. We typically do not recommend using a case with our products.

What I can do is give you a 30% discount code so you can place a new order. The code is: XXXXXXXX and is good until July 26, 2011.

I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused you. "

That 30% coupon is worthless, because I can register for the ZAGG email newsletter and get up to 50% off codes. I just did and got a 40% off code.

I ordered the ZAGGskin Tuesday, June 8th. It shipped on Friday, June 11th. I received the skin sometime between June 14th-16th (6-9 days after ordering). I contacted ZAGG on July 23rd (The 46th day from order date). ZAGG replied on July 26th (49th day from ordering).

I'm not a happy ZAGG customer. I was planning on ordering other ZAGG products, but after this I'll probably be going with a different company.

Either Apple needs to do something about the iPad case or ZAGG needs to fix the skins.

If you're at all good with your hands the Zagg full body shield is a no-brainer. If you're not confident in your abilities, many shopping malls have kiosks where they'll sell you the kit and you can pay them to install it.

I have installed this on my iPod, MacBook Pro (full body shield), and I just installed my iPad full body shield. Here's some advice for doing your own install:
1) Don't worry about the air bubbles. It can take a week or two, but they will eventually all dissipate.
2) *Do* worry about dust and lint. Work in a clean area away from fans and keep a can of air spray (or a bike pump) handy. Once sealed under the shield, that dust isn't going away on its own. Have good lighting or a bright flashlight handy so you don't need to power up the device to check for dust on the display.
3) Before you start, go to their website and watch their videos. It's important to squeegee from the middle toward the edges.
4) Roll the kit in the opposite direction from how it was shipped before peeling it off the backing to try to flatten it out. If it touches itself it sticks like crazy!
5) Place a dry towel under your device while you work to catch water and prevent slipping or scratching.
6) Keep your fingers wet at all times. The kit includes a spray bottle. Use it liberally on both sides of the shield and your hands. Avoid spraying the device if possible.
7) Don't be afraid to lift up a corner all the way to the middle of the shield, spay underneath, and re-squeegee if you want to remove dust or want to reposition it slightly. It's very durable. In fact you can do this after it's completely dried if necessary.
8) Press with your thumbs to stretch and fit to the edges. Don't be afraid to stretch the plastic. After it's dry, if there is an edge hanging over the body, carefully use a single edge razor blade to trim it so it doesn't collect dirt.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product but installation can be easier., May 6, 2010

This review is from: ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for Apple iPad (Full Body) (Personal Computers)
The Zagg full body Ipad invisible shield works very well.

Pros: I feel very confident that it will protect my Ipad. It makes it much less slippery but still looks cool, and I'm no longer worry about scratches or fingerprints.

Cons: the installation can be tricky, but doable. There are some air bubbles still after 48 hrs, but according to the manufacture, they'll disappear. I'll update this in a few days if they do.

Installation tip: the installation can be tricky but it's not difficult if you watch the installation video from Zagg and don't be afraid to use lots of the spay water that comes with the item. Becareful not to let the sticky side stick to each other when removing it from its backing. Took me about 20 mins to install, including watching the video.

Update: it's been 5 days since I had installed this... All the air bubbles are gone. I'm happy with the product. Some reviewers missed the smoothnes of the glass, but I like the little bit of added friction. For me, there is no lost touch sensitivity.

1.0 out of 5 stars WORST COVER IN THE BUSINESS, August 12, 2010
By
This review is from: ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for Apple iPad (Full Body) (Personal Computers)
I purchased this screen protector for $30 for my IPad, installed it per instructions, no fingerprints or bubbles of any kind though instalation was very difficult because the product is way too flexable and stretches. After installation was complete, there were streaks underneath, either from residue from their spray formula or more likely the adhesive...It never went away!

I recommend that you avoid this product for all of your devices at all cost. Pure Junk!

2.0 out of 5 stars Scratches easily and replacement policy is a scam!, August 21, 2010

INSTALLATION
============
First of all, have Best Buy mobile apply these, because doing it yourself is a recipe for disaster. Watching the pros do it I saw that you need a HUGE bottle of that magic Zagg juice that they use and what is included is simply not enough. You're begging to be ordering a replacement right away if you attempt this yourself!

DURABILITY
==========
Don't be taken in by the videos on Zagg's site showing no scratches in just the right lighting and at just the right camera angles. I put these protectors on both my iPad, and my wife's iPad. Neither one of them was scratch free within the first two weeks. Both have multiple large scratches that are visible and disturb the viewing experience if there's any reflective light. In a very dark situation, it's hard to see any scratches and the visual disturbance isn't as severe. Regardless, advertising this as "scratch proof your iPad" is a complete and utter lie--pure unbridled false advertising. I tell you this first hand.

Additionally, I'd like to add that if you use the officle Apple case for the iPad in conjunction with the Zagg full body iPad product, we've found that the dye from the Apple case leeches off into the Zagg shield. Thus my wife's iPad has blue dye marks all over the back. While this isn't a huge issue because you can't see it with the case on, it's worth noting that the shield stains easily.

REPLACEMENT
===========
Here is the biggest scam of all, their "lifetime guarantee". It may be true in the most technical sense, but the hurdles you have to jump through are ridiculous and there are costs every time you replace the protectors. Currently both my and my wife's iPads need their screens replaced. To do this I have to file a replacement claim on their website, and they want $3.95 shipping for each replacement screen protector. In addition, they put a holding charge on your credit card, and if you do not send back the old mangled messed up ones after you remove them, they charge you for an entirely new product. Lastly, please note that they don't even pay return shipping on your used protectors, no RMA or anything so you have additional cost beyond the $4 shipping per replacement.

I thought by having Best Buy install them I could avoid this, and was told so when they sold me the installation service, however it turns out that I have to order them myself and wait for them to arrive to have them reinstalled.

SUMMARY
=======
This product is almost completely a scam. It does protect your screen, but it damages easily and scratches easily. Replacement is difficult, tedious, and not free (just discounted). I can't recommend against Zagg screen protectors enough, if they were more durable, and/or the replacement process was easier then I could be persuaded otherwise. All in all, this is a terrible choice for protecting your iPad.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, September 19, 2010
This review is from: ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for Apple iPad (Full Body) (Personal Computers)
It was very difficult to install and I was very worried having all the liquid on my iPad. The very fine air bubbles never really came out and they say you can slide it in to install. Hahaha. It sticks like crazy. Maybe I needed more liquid, who knows. Even peeling the backing off was an exercise in carefulness because the sheet wanted to fold over as I was holding it. I let it dry and set for over 16 hrs and the little air bubbles still showed. Actually using my device felt weird and I didn't like the responsiveness of the iPad screen anymore. I peeled off the protectors by the end of the day. One of the worse purchases I have made. I guess the only good thing is that they didn't damage my iPad at all.

I bought this product for my iPad, wanting to protect it. The back cover went on ok. But when it got to the front, the cover rolled up on me, stuck to itself and turned into a blob. I actually did manage to pull it apart, but at that point it was stretched out of shape. I called Zagg. They did send me a replacement, but I'm really not satisfied with the way it went on or the way it feels. It keeps it clean, but it does nothing for glare.
