Unfortunately, this was one of those "too good to be true" things. My first Zagg Sparq2 arrived with evidence of shoddy workmanship: USB sockets were crooked and a bit wiggly. It held a charge and recharged my gear, but within 3 weeks, the prongs of the plug broke loose and began swinging freely.
After a bit of confusion, Zagg agreed to replace the unit, which arrived within about 7 days. It had the same slightly crooked USB sockets, which made me nervous, but it functioned fine. Unfortunately, after three weeks, the unit stopped accepting a charge. Once drained, it would not charge again. Both times the Zagg Sparq2 failed, I was on the road with no easy way to charge my phone, IPad, or iPod... muy inconvenient.
Another flurry of emails to Zagg, this time asking for refund my $100. (Screw me twice, shame on me, right?) Zagg's ever-friendly customer service folks informed me that they are happy to give me a store credit, but will NOT refund my money, because it has been more than 45 days since the original purchase! Nothing seems to budge them from this position, so I'm stuck with a credit for a store I would not buy from again, or a useless plastic paperweight.
Don't make my mistake! Stay away from the Zagg Sparq2 until they get their production and quality control issues under control, and adopt better return policies for the lemons they seem to be producing.
I had hoped to be able to carry this charger on hikes in the Cascade Mountains--with up to four full charges for my iphone it seemed a fantastic item. Doesn't weigh much or take up much space. Before I got to hike, I took it on a overseas flight. When I went to use it to charge my iphone, it DISCHARGED my phone, and beeped every 8 or so seconds. Major failure. I had successfully charged it for 9 hours prior to my flight, but something was defective with this item.
I returned it and got another one. Charged it successfully, and then used it once to re-charge my iphone. So far, so good. Then took it on a cross-country flight. Failure number 2--it seemed the unit was completely dead. I could not get it to work at all, even plugging it in. Returned it. Bought a mophie juice pack air, which has only one charge, but seems to be reliable.
ZAGG needs quality control badly, or needs to re-engineer this product.
Warranty process is online and pretty simple. If you buy this item, you will likely need to send it back.
I bought my first one in the summer. Stopped working completely within a few days. Second one works sometimes. You plug it in, charge it for a day and sometimes it works. Pretty often, it has four LED lights indicating a full charge after a full day of charging. Once you plug it in, the charge instantly drains. This happens every once in a while.
This piece is not reliable enough to take on a trip or anything. Pretty much defeats the main purpose of having it.
I use it mainly at home as I dont travel much. Primary reason for buying though was to be able to use it for trips.
This device looked ideal: Large capacity, no fancy charger, self contained etc.
Build quality mediocre...USB port was misaligned...
However, the biggest flaw was in it's primary ability to act as a seperate charger.
It wouldn't hold charge for more than a day or two.
So, if you charged it before setting off you may be ok for the first day.
I don't use it or carry it.
It does not work and is a waste of time.
I didn't waste my time trying to get reimbursed....so no comment on customer service.
Well I'm happy to report that I've used this unit for over 6 months now and it has been trouble free. Yes the USB ports are crooked, the LED indicators are inaccurate, and the plastic creaks a bit if you press on it. But does that take away from the product? No.
I've used this to charge my phone many times, used on numerous road trips charging multiple phones (even 3 phones by using a hub). So far I've had no issues with lost capacity and seems I can indeed get more than 3-4 full charges from this device.
Only the drawbacks I can see are the LED indicators seem to drop to 2 LEDs (out of 4) over non-use, but seem to have a full ability to produce 3-4 charges still. Also the glossy finish is an annoying fingerprint magnet--a matte finish would look better and offer better grip. If Zagg could improve this I would say at least fix the LEDs and allow both USB ports to delivery at least 1A each (only one delivers 2A--for iPad use--while the other only delivers 500mA).
Short version: after 6 months of use, the ZaggSparq still works great. I will go on a 3 month business trip soon and expect this to work without any hiccups for months to come.

I've had this for over, probably about 4 years. I've used it sparingly for the first couple of years, but the last few years, I've used it practically daily. Works well. Read morePublished 8 months ago by Ed C

Zagg builds low price crap and then tries to pedal it. This product failed on me after only one month and Zagg will not stand behind it. Read morePublished 11 months ago by Jack Haldeman
I've owned my Zagg Sparc for over two years and it is still as reliable as ever, even with a few falls out of my purse!!! I love it for road trips and day trips around town.Published 12 months ago by JaiRenee
Worked fine, with the exception of the two prongs that broke off in the outlet after I dropped in on the floor. Needs to be more durable for this kind of device.Published 14 months ago by Jan Arnold
