After reading some mixed reviews on this product, but then researching closely enough to see how much better the 2nd version of the case was I took the plunge and purchased the Zagg ZAGGfolio for Apple iPad 2 Carbon with Silver Keyboard (LEACSIPAD2) I could not be happier with this product! My iPad2 is fully protected, the keyboard has an excellent feel to it, and the increase in weight is just what you would expect when you add all of this to the sleek iPad. When you want to read or do something else with the iPad out of the case, it slips easily out and shows no signs of abuse to the iPad or wear to the case.

There are several types of bluetooth keyboards on the market, many of the keyboard cases contain the rubbery feeling keys that feel like bumps under a single sheet of silicone. Those do not have much of a tactile response, you constantly have to watch for either a missed keystroke or a double-tap. Zagg probably makes the best keyboards, the aluminum case is very thin and light, the battery lasts forever (I use mine all the time and haven't charged the keyboard once in nearly 4 weeks), and each key is a separate island of plastic on the aluminum chassis. The keys feel like a laptop keyboard, albeit about 90% the size of a 15 inch laptop's keyboard, but very usable because your fingers feel where the edges of the keys are. I haven't counted the keys, but you have all the letters, numbers, left and right shifts, other characters, and arrows where you would expect to find them. Across the top you have a set of special keys that help keep your hands on the keyboard and off of the iPad screen except for actions your mouse would normally be used for....

I like this keyboard so much, that when it was time to move my 83 year-old father from a Windows XP machine to a new 'internet device' I went with an iPad 2 and the ZAGGfolio. No more remote trouble-shooting for me! Based on both of our very different uses, I can highly recommend this keyboard case. I have written this review on my ZAGGfolio in my favorite recliner and will slip the iPad out of the case to do a little reading on the Kindle app after I submit it.

Do not be worried by any bad reviews of the 1st generation of the folio, all problems have been addressed and this is now a top-notch way to have your cake and eat it too! Read more ›

I haven't put my iPad into it because I am using it while lying in bed! I have the iPad lying next to me on the bed while I am typing. It makes writing on my iPad so simple!!!! I love the fact that it has a cover which protects it when in put it in my iPad carry case. I love the fact that it is portable and doesn't need to be physically attached to the iPad. The keyboard keys are a great size for my fingers. I hardly notice any diffenence between using this keybaord and using the keyboard on my computer.

My iPad fits into it perfectly, when I want to use it that way. I can orient it either vertically of horizontlly, landscape or portrait. Its construction seems sturdy and it is light weight. With a keyboard I don't have to keep switching the keyboard on the iPad to get to numbers, etc. or keep hitting the arrow to capitalize a group of letters. It DOES turn off the keyboard on the iPad when it is connected so the quick options like finish words, etc. are not available. But, since I can type faster on the keyboard, I don't find it to be a great loss.

I have a magic cover, and back protective case on my iPad and it STILL fits in the stand just fine. I don't have to remove anything from my iPad to use this keyboard. To me, that was important.

FYI You can only connect it to one devices at a time, which makes sense since you don't want your typing to show up on some other connected device by mistake, but it is easy to change the device it is to connect to, so that's not a problem.

My only problem is: I still have no idea what the keys on the top stand for. No function keys, just icons. The icons are not explained. There is no manual. I have looked everywhere on line to find SOME document to explain them and have found none.... Am I the only person who doesn't know these icons? Does anyone know where I can locate ANY document to tell me what they're for?

IF I run into any problems in the future, I WILL update this review. Hope this was helpful.

What do the top row of keys do on the keyboard?

Home - Brings you to the iPad 2 home screen
Search - Brings up the iPad 2 search screen
Slideshow - Starts playing slideshow of saved pictures
Virtual keyboard - Allows you to hide or show iPad 2 on-screen keyboard
Lock - makes the iPad 2 screen go dark and come back when pressed again
International Keyboard - Toggles between international keyboards
Other function keys: Cut, Copy, Paste
Music function keys: Previous track, Play/Pause, Next track, Mute, Volume down, Volume up

They are in order from left to right, so you should have no trouble figuring out what the functions do with this information. Read more ›

I purchased the ZaggFolio directly from Zagg in August and got it promptly. As per other reviews I had read, the case did not close properly and would pop open, turn the iPad2 on and off, and generally feel flimsy. This, however, was in the process of being remedied. As soon as it was available, Zagg sent me a replacement folio only at no charge to me. Wow! The difference was night and day! I slipped the original keyboard in the new folio and then my iPad2. I noticed right away that the iPad slipped in much more easily, yet seemed to snap into the bottom of the folio more securely. When I closed the folio, it snapped shut, and everything felt snug, secure, firm -- not wobbly, flimsy, and cheap as before. It stays shut! The iPad2 doesn't click on and off as before. I believe our previous reviewer will feel very differently when he gets his replacement. I know I did! This is an excellent product and I am very pleased. The only reason I didn't give the case a full 5 stars is that I want to see how it wears. Will report back in a month. BTW -- the keyboard is, indeed, as awesome as the previous review stated!

Jan 2, 2012: Ok, so it's been longer than a month. Everything I said above I still stand by! It has worn well over the months. I have no issues with it. It was and is a good buy!

The keyboard from this case is the best! It works flawlessly and stays charged forever. The case was a complete fail the first go around, but has been much better with round 2. It is easy to slip in and out of the case. I keep the keyboard at school and have a regular cover for the iPad so I can't comment on the durability of the case. I love the fact that you can keep the iPad in portrait or landscape with the keyboard. The keyboard will also work with the iPhone which is a plus.
