5.0 out of 5 stars Best gadget ever
I was looking for a solution to turning out my husband's table lamp off after he had finished reading. He had shoulder surgery, and he could not move to turn out his light. I had to get up and do it. I found the zapper adapter at Walmart on the checkout stand for a cheaper price. I didn't think it would work. I pointed the TV remote towards the zapper, clicked, and...

1.0 out of 5 stars This Product sucks
It does what it is illustrated. Usually you have the TV and lamp in the same room. I mean why would you have a remote in a room ....for the TV. Whenever you use the TV the lights start going off and on. So it works just like they say it does, but it can be annoying. I just unplugged the stupid thing.

It is the best gadget ever!

I wished I had bought several more for Christmas gifts for some of our elderly family members. I want one for my self too. I searched all the hardware stores and two Walmarts. Finally found it at Amazon. You will want more than one!

4.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, October 15, 2006
This review is from: The ZAPPER ADAPTER: Remote Control Lamp Adapter (Kitchen)
I would give this thing 5 stars except it doesn't work with the energy saving florecent type bulbs. Don't know why but it doesn't. If it worked with them I would have one or two of these in every room!

The 'zapper adapter' will initially work as advertised, but my experience is that, apparently, the heat from the light bulb(s) eventually damages the infrared electronic circuitry inside the adapter, and it will predictably die on you sooner or later. Unless you use a lower wattage bulb, but that is not helpful if you like to have bright lights for reading at night.

Also, the energy-saver compact fluorescent bulbs don't work, I think it might have to do with the polarity of these bulbs, but they don't work with this gadget. I can vouch for that.

Remote control lighting would work better with the X10 systems, that's where I will go eventually.

5.0 out of 5 stars I depend on my Zapper!, July 25, 2007

My first Zapper wore out after nightly use for over 2 years. I was thrilled to find a replacement. Every night I use my "regular" tv remote to zap the Zapper on the lamp across the room by my bed. Then I turn off the other lights and the tv at this end of the room, leaving the "regular" tv remote behind. This saves trips across the room, back, and across again to go to bed. I leave an old tv remote on the bed table to turn the lamp off (or on again during the night). This way I don't forget to return the "regular" remote for tv use the following day.

Hands down the best purchase I made in 2004. This little gadget really works. It also opens up new possibilities for placing lamps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy way to end the day...., December 31, 2008

This review is from: The ZAPPER ADAPTER: Remote Control Lamp Adapter (Kitchen)
I like to end the day by reading in bed. But with back and shoulder trouble it was so hard to turn off the light I sometimes fell asleep with it on. Then I got the Clapper. It was an improvement, except the Clapper would go on and off when I vacuumed, etc. And when the light bulb blew out most of the time it would blow the Clapper.
So I tried the ZAPPER Adapter. Like it much better. I just use the radio remote and the light is off. Wonderful product. Only problem is sometimes when the bulb burns out it even blows out the Zapper. I have gone through 2 of them in about 2 -3 years. Maybe something is wrong with my lamp, or this product could be improved, in that respect, but I don't care, I love the convenience of this so much I always keep a spare in my home and just replace it.

I thought they were ( I bought two ) great.
BUT within two weeks, they BOTH stopped working!!!
If this is the best they can do... I think I'll sell my
Scientific Atlanta stock !
