Here is a comparative of the Nutrition Facts showing ZOIC first on the left and Slim Fast Low Carb second on the right:

Calories: 110 - 190

The vitamins/minerals are somewhat similar in these two drinks and can be found on the Nutrition Facts on the cans. The biggest difference is that Slim Fast Low Carb has about 73% more calories and 70 more Fat calories per drink.

The taste, which I was concerned about when I order my first case of 24 drinks, is similar with the main difference that the Slim Fast Low Carb has a smoother, creamier texture. I experimented with adding about 80 calories of cream to a ZOIC drink and it definitely acquired a smoother, creamier texture. The overall taste of both drinks, in my opinion, is a good taste; but not a great taste. I would give these products a 4.5 rating if I could.

The Slim Fast Low Carb drink with its extra 70 more calories from Fat seems to satisfy my hunger perhaps 30 minutes longer than the ZOIC drink (without any cream added). ZOIC's package states "meal complement & snack replacement" not a meal replacement; in other words, it seems logical that one would add a small portion of other healthful food to make it a meal.

Both drinks refrain from adding any sugar or sugar alcohols (make sure you are comparing Slim Fast "Low Carb" and not other Slim Fast drinks which do have sugar added). Both drinks are free from Trans Fat.

I like to use both drinks to give me variety in taste and calories. The ZOIC drink at only 110 calories is a good choice when I want less calories and less fat calories; perhaps, when a planned meal time has to be pushed back in time by a couple of hours. If I need something to skip a meal, then I will usually choose Slim Fast Low Carb.

Both of these "Low Carb" drinks are good to have on hand in the refrigerator, so you can choose 110 or 190 calories versus some other super-sized 500 plus calorie item that may be in the refrigerator too.

I am 5 years out from my operation (RNY) and solid food has little appeal after dealing with eating too much or too fast, etc. My surgeon calls it "negative behavioral reinforcement" - I call it "pouch purge".

I discovered Zoic while speaking to another patient during a post op visit. She raved about it. I went out immediately and bought it, loved it and it has been my primary form of nutrition ever since. I have consulted my surgeon, 2 nutritionists and my family doctor and no one could shoot holes in the product - is a really great nutrition in a can!

It was always a challenge trying to find enough Zoic in local stores - they do no stock very much and it's only available in the biggest supermarkets. This new Amazon service is the best thing since - well, since I gave up sliced bread!

The subscription service, the quick turnaround and the price - big big savings. And my wife doesn't have to shlep the heavy boxes home in the weekly shopping.

Note to purists: If you shop at Whole Foods you probably won't be interested in this product. They won't carry Zoic as some ingredients are artifical. On well.....

I would actually give this product a rating of 4.5 instead of a 4.0. If you keep in mind that this drink is NOT a thick and creamy shake, but simply a refreshing high protein, low calorie, low carb, low sugar DRINK, then this DRINK is the bomb. If you're the type of person who is finicky and has set unrealistic taste expectations for many things, then you won't like this drink, either. Let's face it. High calorie, high fat foods taste great, but this drink can't be put in the same group for evaluation. Evaluate it for what it is...a healthy choice. If you're the type person who's main objective is to make better choices for what goes into your body, then this drink IS for you. The NEW guidelines for healthy living has bumped up the daily required protein grams for a woman to 80 grams per day and 100 grams for a man. This drink would definitely help you achieve those numbers without the unnecessary calories, carbs, fat and consequences.

This is the best product of it's type that I have found. It is not chalky or gritty. The taste is good. Higher protein content, lower fat and calories.

I am a type one diabetic who is trying to reduce the number of carbs and increase the amount of protein in my diet. I drink one of these for breakfast and it holds me over until lunch. I take less insulin now which is better when it comes to losing weight. I will definitely recommend this drink to others! This is not a milk shake from Baskin Robbins people, it is a low fat, low carb, high protein drink, it will not taste unbelievably delicious. I am a very picky eater and would not be recommending this if it tasted bad. This drink taste much better than the other GNC drinks I used to buy. I highly recommend it.

I was so happy to see Amazon carrying this product as I have used it off and on for about 4 years now. I finally got my thyroid medication adjusted and have been using this as a meal replacement with a piece of fruit for 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) a day with a normal dinner and light desert. I have lost 70 pounds since May 4, 2007. I can only tolerate the taste of the chocolate flavor but mixed with sugarfree instant powdered pudding or a ripe banana keeps me satisfied for hours. I noticed when I lived in Florida at the Cleveland Clinic this was offered at the small Starbucks carts in the lobby's and many gastric patients and their doctors endorsed the product. Never had the surgery but ZOIC was the best tip I ever rec'd.

My husband bought Zoic to replace the Slimfast we were using, he quit the Zoic after one day due to the flavor. It does not have the thick rich flavor of slimfast but I wouldn't trade the flavor for the results I have gotten. I continue to use it, along with a healthy low carb, mod fat diet, min to mod exercise. Previously, I could have lived off of Little Debbie cakes and junk food. I have tried quite a few diets over the past 5 years,this time it took about two weeks to get over the sugar cravings. Once the sweets were gone, the weight started to come off. Before 5' at 167lbs, currently 157lbs, started using Zoic about the second week of January. I could not be happier with the results from using Zoic and a carefully controled diet. I think I may be on Zoic for life. It is my snack of choice now, it fills me up and I leave the junk alone. And ladies let me tell you the belly fat is going away. I am pushing 50, afraid of being fat for the rest of my life and hopefully I have found part of the answer.

Pair a ZOIC with a GNU bar (available on amazon) for breakfast or lunch and be AMAZED at how your hunger is suppressed for hours and hours. Pairing 21 grams of protein and 12 grams of fiber can't be beat!

I tried the Vanilla before the Chocolate. I am into sweets or at least I was. The ZOIC nutrition drinks allow me to eliminate all sweets from my diet which in turn helped me snack and eat healthier and gave me more energy. Once I cut out all of the sweets, my weight started to drop. I was a big candy eater before ZOIC, now I am a healthier person who can have more fun with my children and my wife too. ZOIC isn't a sugar-added drink, its just naturally sweet. My wife and kids love the taste and it makes our life's easier because we can each just grab-n-go a virtual meal and take it anywhere. Schools don't allow "un-healthy" foods in the kids lunches but my kids can take ZOIC to their cafeteria and drink it without worries. One of the teachers in my kids schools now drink ZOIC too thanks to my daughter bringing her in one. The teacher is soon to be having a healthy baby girl of her own. We believe in this drink over slim fast and enter-x.

To the guy who complained about lack of mouthfeel--hey buddy, you're not drinking a milkshake! You are getting 20 grams of protein in 110 calories. The chocolate flavor is great stuff (the vanilla less so, but still good). I had gastric bypass 5 months ago, and this is my regular breakfast. What could possibly beat a tasty, easy 20 grams? I can't claim to have tried EVERY product out there, but of the stuff I have tried, NOTHING came close to the combination of ease, taste, low calories, and low carbs of this drink.
