Fun games, but feels dated due to problems...
The game is pretty fun, but it has it's fair share of glitches. A lot of the map building elements gives a lot of options, but is limited compared to other sim games. It also lacks more detailed map building like making water falls, changing the size of a lot on a location, or more map spots. There also are some glitches in building slopes with the fences over them...

Zoo Tycoon 2
While it was easy to order and received quickly, the product did not work and I had to get a replacement. I have not yet received the replacement discs, but I hope to in the next few days. The game itself is great according to my 10 year old!

The game is pretty fun, but it has it's fair share of glitches. A lot of the map building elements gives a lot of options, but is limited compared to other sim games. It also lacks more detailed map building like making water falls, changing the size of a lot on a location, or more map spots. There also are some glitches in building slopes with the fences over them.
Problems I've had with it is that the AI is really horrible. Animals can be thirsty for a long time, with a full water bowl right in front of them, and never take a drink of water. It is very annoying. Also in 1st person Zoo keeper mode, the lack of a pointer makes it feel like you are pointing with your nose, and it doesn't feel like you have as much control as you should. Things that I'd wish were in this game is more information on the status of the animals and requirements. If I am building a cage for a leopard I shouldn't have to guess that it needs an Elephant size cage despite it's size. I'd also like to be able to control what is sold in shops and vender's, and most importantly I'd like to be able to go into a god mode and tell an animal/Zookeeper what to do (like in the Sims). It may help with some of the AI and path finding problems. It is very fun though, and I recommend it for the discounted price.. at least until Zoo Tycoon 3. Hopefully Microsoft addresses the problems though.

Zoo Tycoon has been a imagnative, fun game my kids really love. It lets their creativity go "wild" and it challenges them to create the ultimate 5-star rated zoo. Each zoo they create seems to get better while they are getting an introduction in Computer Aided Design (CAD) at the same time! It's a wonderful product!
