4.0 out of 5 stars good hardware in a small package
Previously, I had the Acer AspireRevo AR3700 but didn't care for the choppy video so I decided to try the Zotac Nano E-350. The Nano does a great job with flash based high def video. Unfortunately, Netflix / Silver-light 5 high def video is choppy (standard def is fine). Zotac is a smart company that learns from previous mistakes. This is evidenced by their move from...

The design of this mini PC is nice and the aluminum housing is too but the CPU and GPU are utterly horrible. I could write a long review on how long the PC lagged when performing basic computing tasks such as browsing but why bore you. The internals are what matter in a machine like this and it is simply not suited to handle anything intensive or even non intensive for...

This review is from: ZOTAC AMD Dual-Core E-350 1.6 GHz/AMD M1/2GB/320GB/Wi-Fi/A&V&GbE Mini PC Barebone System (ZBOXNANO-AD10-PLUS) (Personal Computers)
This is evidenced by their move from internal wi-fi antennae to external antennae. The unit has a built in infrared receiver along with a corresponding media center remote. If necessary, you can use the included infrared extender cable. My Harmony One remote control seems to work with it.

The unit does not get very hot but it does have an annoying fan that cycles up/down as the CPU/GPU workload increases/decreases. It wouldn't be so noticeable if the fan wasn't constantly cycling up/down.

Here is my configuration:

Crucial Technology CT51264BC1067 4 GB 204-pin SODIMM DDR3 PC3-8500 CL=7 Unbuffered NON-ECC DDR3-1066 1.5V 512Meg x 64 Memory

Intel 320 Series 80 GB SATA 3.0 Gb-s 2.5-Inch Solid-State Drive

Here are my Windows 7 scores:

Zotac Nano
==========
Cpu=3.8 (dual core)
Memory=5.7 (4gb RAM)
Aero Performance =4.1
Gaming Graphics=5.7
Hard Drive=7.1 (Intel 320 series SSD)

Cpu=3.5 (quad core)

Hard Drive=5.8 (stock hard drive)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast enough - meets expectations, May 24, 2013

This review is from: ZOTAC AMD Dual-Core E-350 1.6 GHz/AMD M1/2GB/320GB/Wi-Fi/A&V&GbE Mini PC Barebone System (ZBOXNANO-AD10-PLUS) (Personal Computers)
Pros: Even coming preloaded with a HDD and 2gb RAM, this little thing met all my expectations as a HTPC or media server.

It's not the fastest hardware, as I would not recommend it for gaming. Loaded Win7 64-bit, XBMC. Plays 1080 res. movies without stutter or slowness. Cpu / RAM runs at a steady 40-60 percent during playback. Unit doesn't get too hot.. I don't have any complaints about the fan. It's really not that loud.

Will eventually upgrade it to 4gb ram.

Cons: My only complaint is the wireless seems a bit weak, compared to my other devices... but then again my router is in the basement. I typically hard wire everything.

Other comments: Initially had issues with DTS 5.1 audio on movies in xbmc and I found out I had to uninstall the RealTek Audio Software/Driver permanently that comes with the unit (It's a sticky post on the xbmc forum)

I could write a long review on how long the PC lagged when performing basic computing tasks such as browsing but why bore you. The internals are what matter in a machine like this and it is simply not suited to handle anything intensive or even non intensive for that matter. Even putting an Intel SATAIII SSD in it didn't remedy the snails pace at which this thing crawls. If you want a small form factor PC with decent specs build your own and don't waste money on this.
