Reviewing sound bars is especially difficult. Each person has his own preferences and expectations for audio quality and included features. What sounds great and meets the expectations of one person may be just the opposite for someone else. I initially wrote a glowing review of this ZVOX sound bar after listening to it for a few hours. It does indeed produce very good audio, however, after getting all of my components fully integrated with the sound bar and then attempting to adjust the sound to my liking, a couple of deliberate decisions in the design of the 430HSD have made me much less pleased with it. First of all, although the ZVOX430HSD includes two digital audio connections (1 optical and 1 coaxial) only one of those digital connections can be used. For example, I initially connected my Blu-ray player to the coaxial input and my DVR to the optical. I was not getting any sound from the DVR. A call to the nice folks at ZVOX confirmed that the two digital inputs are wired together in some fashion so that only one of them at a time passes a signal. You can't switch back and forth between them and you can't turn off the component connected to one digital input and then have the other digital input start to work. When you plug in the ZVOX for the first time, it recognizes the signal from whichever digital input is receiving a signal first. The other digital input is then silent. The only way to change which input is working is to unplug the ZVOX and then connect to the other digital input. Having always used an AV receiver in the past, I expected every input to work.Read more ›

This sound bar replaced a high quality 5 speaker system with subwoofer. We moved and the new room setup would not easily accommodate the prior system. This is not the prettiest sound bar out there - it is a bit boxy and large. Get past the look and you will have a wonderful sound experience. Very versatile and easy to control with a simple remote. The back of the remote would not stay on (battery compartment cover), but a little tape fixed that problem. Even if we moved and again had a large room, I doubt we would go back to a 5 speaker system. It is a bit pricey, but well worth the cost. Glad it has a connector for the iPhone/iPod as well.

Just received zvox 430 today, at work and we hooked up to the tv with optical cable and could not believe how well it sounded. Plus the kit included different hookups, remote with batteries, great that everything was there and works. Kuddos to ZVOX great packing and arrived quick. I have a 300 watt sony soundbar at home that a power surge destroyed, and I must say this ZVOX sounds better, kinda glad that a power surge destroyed the other:) Highly recommend this soundbar, and highly recommend ZVOX!

I have owned this product for about 2 years, and I think it delivers excellent quality sound. It's especially good for music, and my ipod sounds just as good on it as it does on the Bose speakers. Mostly, I use it for TV where it enhanced the experience ten fold.

The look is sleek and contemporary, and it was easy to set up.

Even more than those accolades, I want anyone who purchases a ZVOX product to know that their customer service is beyond compare. My remote stopped working the other day and they immediately sent me a replacement at no charge.

If you are looking to reduce the size of your home theater system the ZVOX sound bar represents a good option. We dumped our CD changer (ripping all the CDs to iTunes), receiver, and speakers. All this was replaced with a sleek sound bar and an iPod! Sound reproduction is quite good.
The only complaint I have for this system has to do with the remote. As the sound bar is incorporated into home theater systems, it would be optimal to have access to the remote codes so that other remotes (e.g. TV, satellite) could be programmed to control the ZVOX. These codes are not provided with the unit, and ZVOX customer/technical service is completely unresponsive to requests for the codes.

First the sound, it's great. I don't need to turn up the volume to hear the dialogue anymore and this is exactly why I bought it.
However.....man this dude is big. I have an older Sony 46" LCD TV and it sticks out from the wall a bit. This TV is not one of your svelte beauties hanging on the well this sucker shouts here I am.
The Zvox makes the TV look small, I was thinking of hanging it under or over the TV...no way...it's just to clunky/boxy whatever you wana call it.
The Zvox has a setting that allows it to do a surround sound kind of gig but I can't use it for me it's about the dialogue and it reproduces that flawlessly.
I have old damaged ears and Zvox is a blessing.

Very high audio quality from this sound bar. My only disappointment is with the controls. I've had the entry model Z-Base 220 for the past two years and decided to move up to the 430. The smallest model 220 in the line up, as well as some of the other models, have a lighted readout on the front that tells you exactly where each control is set by letters and digits. This model has only a blue diode that blinks when you change a function. Other then that compliant it is a very good sound bar.
