4.0 out of 5 stars Zach or Wild Fire?
I was a bit disappointed when I recieved this book and found out I had already read it. Cheyenne released this book with Ellors'a Cave, the name of the book was Wild Fire. 3.0 out of 5 stars Boring
I love ths author but was diappointed in this book. I recently read Wilcard before this book and thought it was worth five stars. Zach was just boring and slow and the sex scenes were just so so. I also don't understand why the author would re-release this book under a new name and change the names of the main characters, doesn't make much sense.

I was a bit disappointed when I recieved this book and found out I had already read it. Cheyenne released this book with Ellors'a Cave, the name of the book was Wild Fire. If I had know that I would not have bought this book because I already read it. Cheyenne changed the name of the book and the character's names, the rest of it was basiclly the same story, most of it word for word. It had been a couple of years since I read Wild Fire so I did read Zach and enjoyed it. Next time I will check more into buying a book from Cheyenne because this was a five book series and after spending another $14.99 on a book I already read was kinda like throughing money out the window.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, enjoyable contemporary western romance, November 25, 2008

Just over ten years ago, the man Sky MacKenna loved more than life itself broke off their relationship, moving far away. . The emotional devastation he wrought changed her for good. She has tried to move on, to forget Zack Hunter, but no other man can take the place he still has in her heart, much to her dismay.

Now Zack's job as an agent of ICE brings him back, both to her town and to her life. He knows he messed up before, and he has his mind set on winning her back. It will take a lot to win back her trust, much less her heart, but Zack will do whatever it takes to make the past up to Sky.

First, though, he must find and apprehend the cattle rustlers who are steadily stealing Sky's prize herd, not to mention threatening the lives of both Sky and her staff.

I have a thing for contemporary romances with a Western theme, and when you add a sexy crime fighting cowboy into the mix, I just can't resist. When Cheyenne McCray's novel ZACK: ARMED AND DANGEROUS came up for review, there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted it.

This marks my first read by Cheyenne McCray, and I quite enjoyed it. I am very much looking forward to more ARMED AND DANGEROUS titles from this talented author.

Zack stole my heart, pure and simple. The man was hotter than a branding iron and as noble as you would expect a good hero to be. He made mistakes, yes, but he has learned from them and is eager to rectify them. Watching him as he works hard to prove his love to Sky is absolutely heart melting. No task is too menial; nothing is beneath him, not if it is something she needs. He keeps her well-being and happiness first and foremost in his mind, until his perseverance and consideration finally break down the wall she has built around her heart.

Sky is understandably hesitant to become involved with her ex again. I mean come on, he hurt her once already, and her heart never really recovered from it. Another such blow would be devastating to anyone. Of course, that doesn't mean she is immune to him, not by a long shot. She succumbs to his physical charms long before she allows her heart to open up to him again.

One thing I would have liked to have seen more of in the story is Sky's inner struggle regarding taking Zack back. I could feel her love for him, I knew she was reluctant to renew the relationship, and I could see the reasons why she should give Zack another chance. What I didn't see was Sky really considering the things Zack did to win her back. She thought a lot about their chemistry, and she definitely did see the things he did for her, but I would have appreciated seeing her really think about those things more before she finally gave him another chance.

ZACK: ARMED AND DANGEROUS is a wonderful, sexy romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat with suspense even while it nurtures the romantic inside you.

4.0 out of 5 stars engaging border second chance at love romance, November 27, 2008
This review is from: Zack: Armed and Dangerous (Paperback)
A decade ago in Douglas, Arizona not far from the Mexican border Zack Hunter met nineteen year old Skylar McKenna and fell in love. However, he was a troubled youth and concluded that Skylar deserved much better than a thug like him as he knew he would just bring her down into his cesspool. Instead He left town breaking her heart, but keeping her from drowning in his ooze.

Ten years since he made that honorable momentous decision to leave, Zack has spent the entire time wondering if he did the right thing as his heart says no while his brain insists he had to for both their sakes. He is back in town, a respectable lawman who immediately at first sight wants the still unmarried Sky at his side forever. Zack believes that if he catches the rustlers stealing cattle from her Flying M Ranch, she will forgive and take him back. He still does not understand her love for him remains unconditional.

This engaging border second chance at love romance provides a vivid picture of ranching in an area where illegal contraband that includes people is smuggled into the country. The story line is fast-paced from the moment Zack returns home and never slows down whether he is hunting rustlers and smugglers or having sex with his beloved. Although he can be an overbearing bully with his claim that she has no choice as she belongs to him, fans will appreciate Sky's superior skills in disarming dangerous Zack.

Okay I have to start out saying that I loved Ms. McCray's book Wildfire. In fact, I would rate it 5 out of 5. However, Zach looses two stars in my book simply because it is Wildfire with a name change. No matter how much I enjoyed the origional, I don't really need two copies. So anyone who already has Wildfire (like I did) you are forewarned. Dee and Jake are now Skylar and Zach and all the other principle players have had a name change, but other than that the story is the same. They have to deal with the same cattle rustlers while trying to get over the heartbreak that occured 10 years ago.

2.0 out of 5 stars Zack.., September 13, 2010

This one started out strong, but IMO finished weak. After the "Cheesecake" encounter, I lost interest in Zack and Sky. But the plot of the story was pretty good. It was the only thing that kept me from giving up on the story all together. It was predictable @ best but still interesting. I can't say if I would recommend this one. Read it for yourself to see if you will like it or not. The Cover is Hot though! I'm hoping the story of Luke is much much better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Give me that man in the black cowboy hat; very good erotic romance, June 26, 2009
This review is from: Zack: Armed and Dangerous (Paperback)
Plot Summary: Sky MacKenna has a sweet little ranch just north of the Mexican border in Arizona, and her future prosperity is threatened by some cattle thieves who are bleeding her herd. Her old flame, Zack Hunter, returns to town to win Sky back, and investigate reports that stolen cattle are being taken across the border. It seems like every guy in town has it bad for Sky, but she's drawn to Zack despite her hurt and anger. He left her ten years ago, and Sky hasn't forgiven him, while Zack hasn't forgotten her.

I was on the fence with this book, torn between whether it deserves three stars or four. If this was a romantic suspense, I'd say it's a three star read. However, since this is an erotic romance, I've got to say that Cheyenne McCray does a super hot job keeping the romance and sex bubbling like champagne. For that reason, I'm going to label this as brain candy, and I'd recommend it for fans who like novels that straddle the bridge between contemporary romance and pure erotica. This is a hybrid between the two, and it's a darn fine example.

The cover doesn't give much away, but this is a modern day western romance, complete with cattle rustling, cowboys, guns in hip holsters, and creaking leather. Zack fits the tall, dark, and handsome mold, and he works out stress by weight lifting each night. He must have some serious guns, and I'm not talking about his 9mm SIG Sauer. What made my knees weak was his black Stetson; I've always wanted to date a cowboy who wore a black hat.

So with one of my secret fantasies fulfilled, I was also quite happy with the heroine, Sky. She's running her own ranch, and she's a crack shot with a Smith & Wesson, so no worries that we're dealing with some weak or weepy woman. The past history between the lovers was convincing and kept the romantic tension going for the first half of the book. The cattle rustling mystery was sufficient, but it's strictly a subplot compared to the relationship dynamics. The sex was well written without going anywhere that I wasn't willing to follow, along with a great scene involving some cheesecake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zack, January 26, 2009
This review is from: Zack: Armed and Dangerous (Paperback)
Skylar MacKenna has been running The Flying M Ranch on her own for years. Everything was going well until someone started stealing her cattle. Now her livelihood is at stake. Sky's old boyfriend Zack Hunter left ten years ago to become an Immigration and Custom Enforcement Agent. When he left, he took Sky's heart with him. Now he's back investigating what's happening on her ranch.

Leaving Sky was the hardest thing Zack ever did, but he had his reasons. Now that he's back he wants to pick up where they left off. Sky is not making it easy on him though. While he searches for the cattle thieves, he's trying desperately to get Sky to give him another chance. Sky isn't willing to risk her heart on Zack again, but Zack is determined to make her see that they were meant to be.

I had the pleasure of reading Zack's story when it was originally written for an epublisher. The additions to the storyline add more suspense and give it bit more depth. Cheyenne McCray is very good at the proverbial tall, dark and handsome cowboy. Her men aim to please their women and they always get what they want. Zack is no exception. He's tough, intense, devastatingly handsome and incredibly sexy. Sky is one tough cookie. She's hard as nails when she needs to be but she's vulnerable at times too. Zack is erotic romance. It's romantic and very, very erotic.

1.0 out of 5 stars Same book as Wildfire; can you plagarize yourself?, March 8, 2010
This review is from: Zack: Armed and Dangerous (Paperback)
i don't know if anyone else has noticed, but this book is almost word for word the same book as cheyenne mccray's wildfire. and i do mean almost word for word. i was reading zake and i kept thinking how familiar it seemed. so i pulled out wildfire and started scanning it. then i opened zake and started scanning the same scene and the two books are almost word for word the same book. only the names have been changed. i have known publishers to rerelease older books of an author using a different cover but i have never known an author to publish a "new" book changing only a few words or sentences and then calling it a new story. shame on cheyenne mccray and shame on the publishers of zack. i don't guess i will be purchasing luke because i fear it will be the same as the next book in the wild series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Zack: Armed & Dangerous, January 20, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Zack: Armed and Dangerous (Paperback)
Zach Hunter let the best thing that had ever come into his life slip away ten years ago, and that was the love of his life, Skylar MacKenna. He didn't think he was good enough for her after losing control in a fit of rage, and fled leaving the biggest part of himself behind. His mother was ill, and needed him, so he requested a transfer back into the area, and immediately became embroiled in a huge case involving old-fashioned cattle rustling. He couldn't wait to see Sky, but was worried about her reaction to him being back. He wasn't perfect, but this time he was not going to run. He was back for his woman, and wouldn't stop until she let him back into her life.

Skylar MacKenna had not been the same since her true love Zach had ripped her heart out years before. Even though he broke her, he was the standard by which all other men were measured. The only problem was that no one came close. When she found him on her doorstep asking for another chance for them, her first instinct was to shut him down, but it didn't take him long to prove to both of them how strong their bond still was. He loved her more than he ever thought possible, but he had other worries. As the ranch thefts spread, and the rustlers stepped up their greedy plans, Zach worried about Sky's safety. This time he would be there, and protect his true love.

This was a book I am glad I read, but it isn't a keeper or a book I would ever want to read again. The elements are there, but the character development specifically of Skylar was lacking. She had all these emotional issues to deal with, but they really weren't dealt with. There were many moments that should have had an emotional impact, but didn't deliver that tug at the heartstrings.
