5.0 out of 5 stars Gettinghooked on another series
I read the Dragon Slayers Academy (DSA) aloud to my kids. They loved that series. The series hooked my boys into reading. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best in Zack Files
My 5 year old son loves the Zack Files series. This particular episode did not keep his interest as well as the others we have read. Maybe it was a little beyond his understanding. I highly recommend the other books in the series.

Also, I thought it was a clever way to show how idioms and new inventions aren't understood by people of another era. Zack files are simplier than DSA. But, they are creative. It does stimulate my boys imagination.

4.0 out of 5 stars Y1K?, December 18, 2001
This review is from: Zack Files 18: How I Fixed the Year 1000 Problem (Paperback)
"How I Fixed the Year 1000 Problem," by Dan Greenburg, is one in the "Zack Files" series of short novels for young readers. The book is illustrated by Jack E. Davis. In this story, contemporary schoolboy Zack is doing research for a school assignment. He is accidentally transported back in time to the year 999, where he discovers a conroversy surrounding the impending dawn of the year 1000. Zack's adventures involve both the students of the Dragon Slayers' Academy and an actual dragon.

This book is good silly fun, with some clever jokes and pop culture references. If you are looking for something that is actually eduactional about the year 999, look elswhere; the accent here is on comedy and fantasy. Davis' illustrations have a goofy charm and effectively compliment the text. Overall, a pretty good book.

Hey y'all, I think this book is neat! I also want to collect all the Zack Files Books that come out. In this book, Zack gets stuck through the computer and gets transported to DSA--Dragon Slayers Academy. There, he meets Wiglaf, Angus, and Erica in the year 999, and faces dragons. There's another book from the DSA perspective. If you like both Zack Files and DSA, this book is for you--a fan!
