Happiness is a good restaurant, August 20, 2010
This review is from: Zagat 2011 Washington DC/Baltimore Restaurants (Zagat Survey: Washington, D.C./Baltimore Restaurants) (Paperback)
Zagut has done its usual good job in a handy, easy to carry book that guides you to restaurants in DC, northern Virginia suburbs, Baltimore, Annapolis and the Eastern shore.
Restaurants are listed by location, with maps that help both locals and tourists. There are some interesting indexes, giving the names of places to eat that have fireplaces, or are historic, or have late dining. The new trend in food trucks/carts is covered, which is really a big help in DC.
If you have gotten Zagut books before there is nothing new or different here, except for an updating on their restaurants and their prices. They are pretty accurate, including taking out those that have gone out of business, which has been pretty volatile in this economic climate.
The one complaint I hear about Zagut is that it is for expensive places, but this book includes several locales that are very moderately priced: Chick and Ruth's in Annapolis, Amicci's in Baltimore's Little Italy where the locals eat, Mitsitsam Café in the American Indian Museum which not only has different food, but you can feed your family cheaper than you can at other museums where you just get hamburgers or pizza.
When you realize what you can spend at a fast food place, this book can guide you to better food and dining for just a bit more.
