Great Pitcher After Minor Modification,

This review is from: Zak Designs 2-Quart Square Polycarbonate Pitcher with Lid (Kitchen)
I can't believe how difficult it is to find a reasonably attractive water pitcher for the fridge. This is my third. One's ugly and too small. The next is tippy and too tall. I'm finally happy, really really happy. The design is very nice. The squared clear polycarbonate gives a clean and modern appearance. I hope it stays clear after some use but I can't comment on that yet.
After my initial enthusiasm with the design I tried to use it to fill a glass with water. I was disappointed to see that pouring amounted to a slow dribble. I timed 23 seconds to fill a 16oz measuring cup. I realized that the lid needs an air hole so I drilled a small hole in the injection point in the center of the lid. The hole is barely visible and completely solves the pouring problem. To me a bigger problem is that the label on the bottom is attached with a horrible gummy yuck that I have yet to completely remove. I think it's the same stuff the police use for the stickers they put on illegally parked cars. I first soaked the label for 15 minutes. When that failed I went at it with rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol worked fairly well but the gummy glue is still not completely off. Ok, it's ludicrous to order a water pitcher planning to drill a hole in the top. If it doesn't put you off then I give this pitcher a strong recommendation. My rating of 5 stars is post modification with the assumption that the label will eventually come completely off. Pre modification it would get only 2 stars.

I purchased this pitcher based on the opinion of the previous reviewer who said they liked the pitcher after they drilled a hole in the top. It has a small pour spout. This doesn't allow a smooth pour AND let air back into the pitcher, hence the need for a drill hole in the top. I tested this one after it arrived, and sure enough, it poured in chugs. Once I had hubby put a small hole in the center of the top, it now works like a charm. Oh, and its much prettier than my old, tea-stained Rubbermaid pitcher.
